How do you add music groups like 'Butthole Surfers' in the DB?

2. Butthole//Surfers

Add it as you would a stage name, so all in the first name field.

Might be a problem for very long group names though, but I don't know what the current field length limit is.

Some of the very long ones I have seen fit what they can in the first name field and overflow the rest in the last name field.
I don't wanna be like everyone else, that's why I'm a mod, see?

I've added really long musical group names and had to use the first, middle, and last name fields.

This is indeed what the rules say, but indeed, if it doesn't fit, the other fields are generally used as well.

Also, when contributing we no longer get to see how a name is parsed, so in reality it doesn't even seem to matter exactly how we divide a name over the three name fields...
