| Posted: | | | | I may be disqualified from making a determination, because I no longer participate in submissions or evaluating contributions, but I noticed the latest few updates to my database eliminates all the slip covers and changes the artwork on virtually every Star Trek Blu-ray I own. I am reasonably certain I bought the first Blu-ray box sets of the original series seasons, the original series films, each of the available Next Generation seasons, and the box set of Next Generation films, and all had slip cases. And the latest art and profile changes eliminate all the slip cases.
Were these sets sold without slip cases prior to the slipcased versions, or was this approved without close checking and good discussion? | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Somebody recently submitted the change removing them and replacing with the standard artwork underneath it. The parent profile should still have the proper slip cover artwork. |

| Posted: | | | | So we can buy the individual discs without the slipcover? Where? This is counterproductive and will mean (since I cannot lock out specific changes to "no slip cover") that either I accept no updates to all these Trek products forever, or I accept all and then go back to every disc and change this back locally every single time... this is a terrible rule for my collection. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | No you can't. This is why I felt the contribution change was wrong and why I voted "no" on those changes. But, there was only 1 other person who read the rules the same way I do. |

You could lock the cover image, which would preserve image you have. Yes, I have done this. Oh, and I will try rorymatt's suggestion. Thank you. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I don't use the child profiles for TV shows myself, but it's my understanding from reading past discussions that for releases with slipcovers, the slipcover should be checked in the parent profile but not the child profiles. Confusingly, I believe the rules imply the images in the child profiles should still match the parent's. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

In the case of the Star Trek discs, they are not in "their own case." They share a case common to the parent. I also voted no for this reason. I agree with you in that I read the intent was based on when the art and/or the data on the interior cover is different than the slip cover or slip case. But I voted YES on those, because based on the way the rule is worded, it is allowed (some would say that that statement makes it required based on the strictness of the interpretation). |

| Posted: | | | | I am not sure i understand what you are saying here Scooter. As I understand the rules, if all the discs are contained in a single case, they all use the same scan as the parent...or am I missing something? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. He is considering the slip cover as a case covering the internal case and the case within the slip cover as a separate case. Why some say it is required is because they have that viewpoint. Personally I would have left the children with the slip cover image. As you read the rule you can see how someone could iterpreted that way. |

| Posted: | | | | When a rule can be read more then one way all you can do is contribute and vote per your understanding of the rules. Unfortunately this can cause 2 camps contributing and voting their own way... meaning no consistency in the online database.
For what it is worth I always seen it to be slip case images on parent and child profiles.. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | If you were to argue that the case inside the slip cover is the actual case for the child profiles, then where's the outer case for the season?
A slip cover is not a case. If it were, it were a slip case but by defintion a slip case must hold more than one inner case or else it's just a slip cover.
So even by Invelos forum's craftsmanship of bending the rules to one's own will I honestly don't see how a case with a slip cover for a season profile suddenly becomes case without a slip cover when it's literally the same case. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
