Ever since the upgrade to 3.8.2 I get this error every single time I try to back up my database.  Each time, I have to repair the database and then it lets me complete the back up, but the next time I go to back up, I get the same error message and must repair the database again.

Any ideas what is going on?

Also, fyi, DVD Profiler crashes whenever I edit the list of studios.  Every time!

I have re-installed the software, even done a fresh database restoring from a backup.  I recently switched computers when my old one died and had to do this, and I get the same problems.

Help!!

When doing the backup unflag "Check for errors".
This option seems to bring more problems than it solves on some machines.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Thanks.  I didn't even realize I had that checked.

Any ideas about the crashes when adding editing studios?

I just found something else.  I have a ton of DVD's, so I didn't notice that many of them had lost their images after the last update.  Some have lost information as well, mostly the overview.  I also had some strange dates and dollar amounts appearing - there is one that has close to 12 digits before the decimal place!

The odd thing is that, I ran the command to download all updated profiles from Invelos, and then I was going to verify information before importing each one.  However, many of the ones with missing data are not showing up as having updates.  I am manually clicking "Preview Changes" on some of them and there are definitely changes to fill in the missing data, but the button telling me there is an update does not turn green.

I'm going to have to manually go through my entire collection to get the proper updates unless there is some work around.  It's a waste to have to check ones that truly do not need to be updated.

Thanks

Step 1:
Menu: Online -> Refresh Online Profile List
(This should solve the problem with the Update Button)

Step 2:
Menu: Online -> Refresh all Images...
(This should solve the problem with the missing images, provided there are some in the maindatabase)

Step 3:
Menu: Online -> Refresh Updated Profiles from Invelos...
(This is a bunch download of all updated profiles and should bring you back the missing data)

Regarding the problem with the Studio Editor, I would send a support ticket to Invelos.

That won't work - the problem is that there are DVD's in my collection that are missing data but they are NOT coming up in the refresh list.  I don't know why, but when DVD Profiler reads the data to match changes, it is not picking up some of the profiles that are missing data.

I found this by clicking to refresh the profile even though it was grayed out to indicate that there is not an updated profile.  I clicked it anyway and it allowed me to refresh and the missing data was filled in.

The question is that this is a bug in 3.8.2 - it is not recognizing all profiles that do have updates available or are missing data (which would still qualify as having an update).

Thanks

Try the following:

Create a new, empty database via File -> Open Database -> New Database.

Then open this database.

Now restore your database via File -> Restore Database BUT choose to restore only specific profiles.

Check if there's an empty profile at the top of the list and then de-select it and select all others.

Now try to backup this database and check if the error persists.

Have you tried?

- The problem that profile-updates are not being shown in the update-button is usually resulting from an outdated Online Profile List.

- Step 2 should work under all circumstances since it overwrites ALL pictures in your local database with those from the online.

- Step 3 only makes sense if the online profile list was updated first.
