| Posted: | | | | I have a (Italian?) copy of Scarface (De Palma 1983). Is ther any way I can import the cast + crew credits from some other version of this film (there must be many in the database) or do I have to type everything out myself? Sorry for what must be a very stupid question, but I am new
Thanks for your help, Charles |

| Posted: | | | | You can clone another profile (what we call it)... what you do is... - Download profile with cast and crew - Go to that profile and click DVD-->Copy - Go to profile you want to paste it to... and click DVD-->Paste - Check off Cast and Crew - Click OK to save I would highly suggest still comparing the credits to the actual film credits. Not only do people make mistakes... we are all human after all... but some profiles still have the data from before we had the from credits only rule.... and it is obvious that some users lie in their contribution notes... so cast/crew may not be from the credits per rules. Be sure to take note of the UPC/EAN you took this info from... as you need to put that info in your contribution notes for it to be approved. I don't think I missed anything... if I did I am sure someone else here can remind us. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Go to add by title and add another version to your local database. Open up the new one you have downloaded and click on the cast section. Right click on the list of cast and go down to "copy all cast." Then close that profile and open your Italian version. Go back to the empty cast list and right click and go down to "paste all cast." Voila!
You can do the same thing with crew.
Then double check your Italian versions credits to make sure that nothing is different and then you can submit the new changes. In your notes when contributing indicate that you copied the cast & crew from the other Scarface profile and list its UPC.
Then go back to your local and delete the one you downloaded for this purpose.

If sections are locked you will have to "Override Locks" via the check box at the bottom of the Paste dialog before checking off Cast & Crew | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | Open via the menu (or the menu button) the DVD -> Add to Collection window. Select the 'By title' tab Type the title 'Scarface' Browse to a profile version you like (*) Select it and it and add it to your collection Exit the 'Add to collection' window Select the newly added profile (**) Via the menu select DVD -> Copy Select your actual copy Via the menu DVD -> Paste... you open the Paste window Tick cast and tick crew, then click OK Remove the latest added profile of Scarface as this was meant only temporarily.
Some cautions: (*) you can preview the profile by using the Preview button in the lower middle. It makes only sense to download it if it has a decently filled cast and crew section. Also, vary 'locality' and or 'region' as well documented profiles may be around in another country (=locality). (**) In the General Info window there is the "view contributors" button. Click it, on the next window click "view contribution notes" to see if the cast and crew were taken from a reputable source: either directly from the movie credits or another previously approved profile. If not, scan around for a better profile in the database.
This fills your local profile. If you have the urge to contribute it to the online database, please document in the contribution notes where you got cast and crew from and best to also check your cast and crew by verifying against the credits in the movie.
PS I see a lot of likeminded spirits aiding as well! | | | Eric
