| Posted: | | | | Is the following example of Divider use correct:
DIVIDER: Dr. Jenning's Makeup Design Crew: Name Crew Name
It's for the Howard the Duck blu-ray. I removed them on the basis that the divider is a Job Title and NOT a divider. I received NO votes based on the fact that the rules say that we should use Dividers for "crew teams".
Personally, I would say this comes down very firmly in the same camp as Songwriter/Song dividers.
I've resubmitted with a better explanation in my notes; but now feel that I may be overlooking something and want to make sure. |

| Posted: | | | | Song Title divider is different because that's NOT a job title. In this case it's just a job title that can locally be entered into the custom role field. But by rule it could be said that it fits the 'crew team' definition.
A credit like this could be fitted into that definition as well, but we don't for obvious reasons:

Written By Person A Person B This is the logic I figured is being used; but, given that we don't do this I assumed people would do the same elsewhere. Maybe that's too much to hope. |

Make-up artists, musicians, writers etc. fall under Crew - why shouldn't they be listed? Because crew are already segregated in logical groups such as writing and music by the program. In fact the rules tell us to " list individual credits only". A group credit is not an individual credit. The single exception allowed by the rules are for company names heading a group of crew members. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

There's nothing in the rules that says it to be company names only. It only tells us that company names aren't allowed in the the crew except as a divider. And later on in the rules: "Dividers allow the segregation of cast and crew into logical groupings. Wherever possible, these groupings should mirror the film credits." And quoting Ken Cole's response on some users claiming that only company names are allowed: Quote: This is saying that we don't list company names as credits, we list them as a group divider. It does not say that we only list the company name.
Dividers help give context to the credits in the group. That is not best served by excluding this extended information. Include it. In the example given by Pantheon it's a job title that belongs into the Custom Role field. e.g. Song names just aren't. So dividers must mirror the credits as much as possible (e.g. headings) and it has to give context. It can't be a job title because that's already pre-programmed into the program and can be changed by the custom role field. That's how I would summarize the divider rules concerning the crew table, based on the rules and Ken's statements. | | | Cor | | | Last edited: by Corne |

| Posted: | | | | I have read the rules, they say exactly what I quoted above.
A song title is not a job title or a crew team, so they don't belong anywhere in the credits.
If Ken wants he can change the rule, but that doesn't seem to be his priority. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |
