| Posted: | | | | Ok, so I'm confused about something. On Blu-ray/DVD combo sets (where Blu-ray is the parent), does the anamorphic box in Video Formats get checked or not? On Blu-ray-only profiles this is greyed out since there's no such thing as anamorphic but for BD/DVD combo sets, it's available.
There was a recent submission that checked it which is fine, but I have hundreds of BD/DVD combo sets in my collection without the anamorphic box checked (in fact I've seen it removed when it was checked), so does this mean all of those should get anamorphic ticked since we're supposed to include parts of the DVD profile? |

| Posted: | | | | I've started seeing this recently in contributions too. Not sure what to think. Blu-rays aren't anamorphic, so it's obviously referring to the DVD copy. I'd rather it not say anamorphic myself. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

| Posted: | | | | The problem is, as usual, there's nothing in the rules that covers this and it one more thing that really needs updating. So right now, it's a matter of opinion. Personally, I wouldn't check it either (and will be locking that portion just in case) but that's only what I think which amounts to the normal $0.01 | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

| Posted: | | | | Ahh movieman, there I believe you are wrong. The rules do provide for setting up a child, this would be to correctly assign the video and other data to the proper medium. Blu ray is not anamorphic and the box should not be checked. That would be with the child, or the reverse if its one of Disney's dvd/bd. Combos. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | Ah, you are correct and found it at the bottom of the page: Quote: Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked. A combo which includes HD media (HD-DVD, Blu-ray) as well as DVD should use the details from the HD media in the main profile. However, you may add an additional profile by Disc ID for the DVD content and add this profile to the Box Set contents for the Blu-ray profile. http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/contributions/Rules.aspx?display=boxsets |

| Posted: | | | | Actually the rules do fall short.
When you check BD/DVD combo NTSC or PAL are forced.
Some things in a combo we are told to make the parent contain hte childs data, like color and dimensions and some we are not. Personally I think it should be explicit in the rules whether or not and if it is not to be checked in the case of a combo NTSC/PAL should not be forced. Personally I htink it is better off just in the child. But the rules should be explicit on this. |

| Posted: | | | | Me neither though I wouldn't be surprised if MGM had released one or two as they tend to repackage DVDs for their catalog Blu-ray releases. |

I bought the Walmart exclusive combo pack version of the new The Princess Bride 25th Anniversary edition on Black Friday. The DVD included was the 2000 flipper edition with the fullscreen version on one side and non-anamorphic widescreen on the other. So it does happen! | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

Yep, and what's weird is the older Blu-ray Combo pack included the newer DVD! I had that and just switched them out and gave the old one to a friend. | | | Corey |
