I've made it to C in my auditing project and one of the films I hit is Camille Claudel.  It's a French film.

Opening Credits have a "mixage" credited just after "ingénieur du son"

Closing Credits have a "mixage" credited after the "chef monteuse son" & "monteuse son" section.

Is the first mixage credit the "production sound mixer" and the second mixage credit the "rerecording mixer"?  If the first is the PSM, am I correct in thinking that I should not credit the engineer?
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

"ingénieur du son" should be Sound Designer
"chef monteuse son" should be Supervising Sound Editor
"monteuse son" should be Sound Editor

Normally the PSM is the first credited but there are exceptions, expecially in european films.

Thanks for the word on the ingénieur.  I thought he was the sound engineer.

Ingénieur du son / Chef-Opérateur du son = Production Sound Mixer
Bruiteur / Bruitage = Sound Designer
monteur / monteuse son = Sound Editor
chef monteur / monteuse son = Supervising Sound Editior
mixage / mixeur = Sound Re-recording Mixer

Yes, you are right. The correct french translation of "Sound Designer" must be "Concepteur/Conceptrice sonore", but i never find this job in the credits of french movies. I think the french make no difference between this two jobs.

Where are the French when you need them?

I'm even more confused now.  One person is saying that the ingénieur is the PSM, one person saying that is the Sound Designer.  And no indication why there is a mixage credit in the opening credits and a separate mixage credit in the ending credits.

Sometime the PSM is credited in opening credits and the postproduction sound crew in end credits, but there are always exceptions...
