| Posted: | | | | Here's a review describing the contents. This is a big box with a hardcover Watchmen graphic novel, and the same contents as the previously released Watchmen: Ultimate Cut, only with a proper DVD instead of a digital copy. It breaks down as follows: Disc 1: Watchmen: Ultimate Cut Disc 2: Special Features Disc 3: Watchmen: Theatrical Cut (DVD) ( also released separately) Disc 4: Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic ( also released separately) So should this be one profile with the motion comic and theatrical cut as special features, or a box, with the UC, theatrical and motion comic as children? |

| Posted: | | | | I should point out that disc 2 contains Under the Hood, which has its own cast list and MPAA rating. Half of the other features on it are definitely special features for the movie, though. | | | Last edited: by Ace_of_Sevens |

| Posted: | | | | I don't think that the availability of an alternate cut as stand-alone release, makes this set a box set.
To me this looks like something we'd enter under the Bonus Feature Film rule, with (optional) child profiles for the Theatrical Cut and the Motion Comic. |

| Posted: | | | | Wouldn't it be a Box set because two or more releases are in it, not counting different cuts? I think it's pretty clear cut it's a box set with the Ultimate Cut + Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic as they were both individual releases.
I hate unneeded child profiles but I'd still do it this way in this case. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

I hate unneeded child profiles but I'd still do it this way in this case. From the rules: "The term "Bonus Feature Film" is used to define any feature film that is included as part of the bonus material for a single release." While I understand the desire, because this is a single release...Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut...it falls under the above rule. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. While I understand the desire, because this is a single release...Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut...it falls under the above rule. I guess it comes down to wether or not you think it is jsut a bonus feature, or part of a boxset. From the front cover it appears that you are correct that this release is primarliy for the Zach Snyder film. I think that rule is worded and designed for releases like: The Truth About Charlie (DVD) (Bonus Movie: Charade) Meet Joe Black: Ultimate Edition (DVD) (Bonus Movie: Death Takes a Hoilday) The Dirty Dozen (Blu-ray) (Bonus Movie: The Dirty Dozen Next Mission) Fubar II (Blu-ray) (Bonus Movie: Fubar) But the rules are the rules, at least there is the option to add children profiles. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

While I understand the desire, because this is a single release...Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut...it falls under the above rule. I disagree. It is also labeled "The Complete Story", it includes all the films (up to that point) that are part of the Watchman universe. This would not be unlike calling something like Batman: The Complete Story, with all the Batman films. Now, if it were just various cuts of the film, I could see the point (even if I wouldn't agree with it -- like the Dawn of the Dead box set), but here different movies are included. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

But the front of the box set has the characters from the movie. I'd like to see the back, to see the descriptions of the 'bonus' features before I could give a real opinion on the matter. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | That cover photo is misleading. It's a lenticular that either shows the cast of the film or drawings from the comics depending on the angle. My reasoning is similar to Alien Redrum's. The set isn't marketed as Watchmen: Ultimate Cut, but Watchmen: Collector's Edition: A complete collection of all material for the movie and comic (though this isn't quite true as it's missing the Director's Cut and lots of ancillary printed matierial). I think this makes it a box set. | | | Last edited: by Ace_of_Sevens |

| Posted: | | | | my reading comprehension was weak. I'll still stand by it being a box set, since the back of that box still says basically the same thing though (not listing the Motion Comic as a bonus feature). | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

I'll still stand by it being a box set, since the back of that box still says basically the same thing though (not listing the Motion Comic as a bonus feature). The rules don't require it to be listed as a bonus feature, only that it be a bonus feature film. This is not being sold as "The Watchmen and The Watchmen Graphic Novel." It is simply, "Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut." That's just my opinion...and with that, I will bow out of this discussion as I didn't really care for this film so won't be affected by how it is done. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
