I would love to use the online collection to sync my PC with iOS.  If I add some items on my iPhone that get synced to the online collection, then use the PC to add a few more later without first updating from online then try to push my changes up from the PC, will it be smart enough to also merge in the slightly older changes from the iPhone, or are they lost?  I haven't seen anything detailing how the online sync really works other than you can now push changes to your online collection from your iPhone.

The direct sync via wifi pushes changes, then pulls the collection.  The sync via online is a full push or pull only.

OK, it seems that I'll have to keep using the direct sync then... there's too much risk of data loss if I accidentally sync the wrong way using online sync.

I haven't tried the direct sync in 3.8 and 2.0 yet, but it wasn't working right for me in the previous versions.  There were some DVD profiles (found via UPC search and grabbed from the online database) that absolutely wouldn't work on the iOS version.  The weird thing is I could ADD them on the iOS version and they wouldn't show up in my collection on there - the collection count wouldn't increase either, but I could sync to the PC version and they would be there.  I even tried deleting the iOS database and recreating it - those profiles wouldn't sync back... or at least wouldn't show up.

If that's still happening, I'll file a bug in the iOS app - it seems that's where the issue is.

Is there any hope of changing this? Especially for the desktop versions? [I know, wrong forum.] It would be really really REALLY nice to by able to intelligently sync multiple (desktop) copies, rather than exporting/importing the database (or equivalently, pushing/pulling the whole online collection). Sharing the database is no good, because (a) that means leaving the main desktop version always running, and (2) there are firewalls to be dealt with.

I'd certainly love to second this - having to go to the PC to run the desktop app just to sync is a pain, especially since the collection can be stored online already.  If the online sync worked like the direct sync, it would be awesome.

That said, the problem with some of the profiles not working in the iOS version seems to be gone - I finally have the same collection count in the iOS app as I do in the desktop app, and no missing DVDs that I've seen so far.
