Thoroughly(!) read the contribution rules, enter the necessary data and submit it. To make things easier you can also start with an already exiting profile and clone that one. Now you might say things like: "I don't have a scanner, so I can't contribute covers.", "Don' have a BD-ROM, can't contribute Disc-IDs." or "I'm uncomfortable with entering cast and crew, it seems too complicated." (e.g. I say the latter) No Problem! You don't have to submit all the data, you just have to make sure that the data you do submit is correct. And when in doubt, ask! cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | I thought that with the license I paid for this would be in a database already. I did not realize it was a member contribution. That seems a little unfair though. Part of the license fee as I recall was for high resolution images. If I have to provide these images then what did I pay for then? Not to sound like an a$$ but who really reads those disclaimers. I know in situations like these they can rally bite you in the a$$ though. BTW,I made a mistake on the post heading. I have the single disc BD not the DVD. I did check the existing database and there are only (3) BD discs but not mine. I have the single disc version. I do have a scanner, BD player, etc. I will add it to the database.
Thanks. |

Thanks. There are literally hundreds of DVD and Blu-ray releases worldwide that come out every single week, and these things don't just magically appear in the database. Somebody has to physically add them there, and do the cover scans, etc.. And there are many releases that perhaps only a few users own, or sometimes maybe just one single user. The more obscure the release, the chances are more that it may not yet be in the database. I've added DVD's into the database before that were released years ago...but nobody ever got around to adding these. For all I know, I could be the only user that owns some titles like that. The high resolution images are what various users have contributed to the database. There are hundreds of thousands of these currently in the database right now, but they're not going to be there for every single title. When contributing a new title, you're not required to enter every single detail. You can just add the UPC and a few other basic details and submit it. Just be sure to list any sources that you used to verify the information. When it gets approved, it'll then be there in the database and ready for other users who want to add it to their collections. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I know they don't magically appear, I'm not an idiot. I just meant being that I paid for a license for this software they developers of the software would have it already. I guess my assumption was wrong and I should have read the disclaimer. Point taken. Going forward I if it is not in the database and I have the time I will do all that;s necessary and submit for database approval. Thanks Again. |

Charging for e.g. the covers would (IMHO) become a big legal problem, as the copyright for those lie with the distributor or the studios, so Invelos would have to have some kind of contract with all of them. Impossible, not to mention possibly expensive. Also the data would have to be input by someone or bought from someone, again a big money grave. The way DVD Profiler is set up is far better in my opinion. cya, Mithi PS Not to mention that it is really a one-time-price. I'm registered since 2001, eleven years isn't bad for a meager 25 bucks. PPS totally forgot: Quote: Going forward I if it is not in the database and I have the time I will do all that;s necessary and submit for database approval. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |
