| Posted: | | | | Never saw this one before. Everything was working fine yesterday. Today I go to add a new disc and Profiler crashes. I go to the Windows application log and find the following:
Faulting application name: dvdpro.exe, version: 3.8.1.1535, time stamp: 0x2a425e19 Faulting module name: clr.dll, version: 4.0.30319.269, time stamp: 0x4ee9ae83 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x003565fd Faulting process id: 0x1238 Faulting application start time: 0x01cd912a5c7193b7 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\DVD Profiler\dvdpro.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\clr.dll Report Id: b5e19d74-fd1d-11e1-ae28-6c626d58255d
Obviously I key in on the Microsoft.NET issue and start poking around there. I then notice that MS pushed some patches to me and the system needs a reboot. At this point I figure reboot and all will be well. Unfortunately, I reboot and still have the same problem. Everything appears to work fine, however when I go to add a DVD, a window is supposed to open up and the latest database update gets pulled, then I get the add window. Instead, before the database update even occurs, Profiler crashes.
I can confirm that I was last able to successfully add a DVD as late as yesterday. Obviously, I also ran the DB repair tool and disabled any plugins, etc.
If anybody's seen this, feel free to chime in. |

| Posted: | | | | Have you tried reinstalling Profiler or MS.N Framework 4? | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | Not yet. Of course these are on the list of things to try but I prefer more subtle moves before I go blasting away with broad strokes. I figured I'd first check to see if anyone else has encountered this before.
I vaguely recall folks having a problem with getting online updates before and there being a fix for that. Just don't remember what it was.
As an addendum, I can upload my collection, I can update individual profiles so I seem to be able to communicate just fine. It's only when attempting to add a new profile that I have any trouble. I seem to recall the online profile list being kept in a seperate table/database. Perhaps if I could reset that my problem would be solved. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

| Posted: | | | | It was M$-Patch Day yesterday.
So check what happens when undoing the latest Microsoft patches. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, I suspected MS patches but couldn't find anything NET 4 related. Regardless, a complete uninstall and then reinstall of Profiler fixed it. Presumably something got corrupted in my program files. Go figure. |

| Posted: | | | | That's the funny thing about sudden problems. They are always caused by sudden changes but it usually takes more than an "undo button" to correct them.
And you reinstalled in minutes when you may have instead danced around it for a day before, finally, having to reinstall anyway.
It's the nature of the beast, my friend. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
