Finally got my miniscule DVD collection entered into DVDProfiler and unknown's etc contributed. it's taken me most of a month, I don't know how you people with 1000's of DVD's ever did it.

And of course most of you people reading this post of mine will be asking "why is he posting this rubbish..", but perhaps other new users have felt the same way because sorting one's collection and updating and learning everything is a fairly big task. Interestingly, nearly a third of my collection needed to be contributed.. where are all you aussie region 4 collectors?

I'm not a fanatical movie collector like most of you, I only get dvd's of only a few movies.....

Wait.. postman's here.. he's got a couple more of those 40 odd dvd's I ordered in the last month... gotta run, most probably more contribs to prepare!

Welcome to the Asylum, Parsec!

And you're probably right that the fact that such a large percentage of your collection was not in the database yet might have something to do with the fact that you're in R4 land. Well, either that, or you got a weird taste in movies...

Well yeah, I think I do have slightly esoteric tastes, but that's mainly because mainstream movies are on cable tv every week anyway..

Yeah, I was thinking that myself, especially since I keep trolling online dvd sellers now looking for something to peak my interest

Now that's easy:
When I started with DVDProfiler my "collection" had about 50 DVDs.
The rest was simply adding them when they arrived at their new home (with an average purchase rate of 15 per month this is nevertheless time-consuming).
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Hey, Parsec.  I remember how good that feels, having the whole bunch listed!

Watch out, though, the database will consume whatever time you let it–depending on your own personal brand of obsession, of course.

Some of us started back in year 2000 with a previous version, InterVocative developed by Ken in a prior life.
I take great care of my Invelos data base, with over 18,000 profiles, maintaining it two dates of backups on two external devices, because if I wold ever to lose them, I would never start over.

It is safer and more convenient to watch movies at home.
TV series are more fun to watch with no commercials.
