I've just discovered how to change a link for a trailer and would like to understand something.  When I do this does it change it for everyone who owns DVD Profiler?  How does this work?

thanks.

If you are doing it through "My Links" it depends on if you submit the link to Invelos or not... when you add it there is a check box at the bottom of the pop-up that you check to contribute it. If you don't contribute it... then  it will only change locally.

not sure i follow what you just said.

when i click on the view trailers icon and click "give feedback or report a problem....." and then select "search for a replacement trailer", hit "submit", then paste in a new link...... does this change it for everyone or just me?  .... and again how does this work regardless if I'm not logged into the Invelos website?

That is the same as through the website... so would change it for everyone. If you are not signed in to your account it will ask you to.

If you want to add a trailer just for yourself you need to go to (in the program) Online-->My Links-->Edit There you can add all the links you want for that profile. Including a trailer that you can watch with the trailers icon.

I now that is what it looks like when it is a manual profile. At least until you add a trailer in the "My Links" section. I don't know if it shows up like that any other time.

What do you mean by "manual profile"?  I don't think i created these movies any different than the rest.  Once I did the my link thing the trailer icon shows up but i would rather contribute the link so my changes are saved the next time i have to reinstall everything....

If i use the my link method and not contribute does the trailer link get saved in the db somewhere?

yeah... it will be saved in your backups with everything else.

A manual profile is a local only profile... where you see the UPC usually it will show as a Manual Profile and number. If you never created any it must be something else. I just don't know what else it is. Maybe someone else can say.

It appears I'm dead in the water at the moment then.

1. no way to change a movie from manual to normal, only way to do this assume is to add new dvd.

2. i'm currently testing 3.8 and am still using 3.7 because having problems with 3.8 and have filed a ticket.

3. appears you are required to update in order to continue using the software (add new dvd's).

4. there is no my link option in 3.7.

Am i correct?

(1) No. You can change the UPC of a manual profile using DVD > Change UPC. Likewise with the Locality.
(2) If you say so, must be correct.
(3) Not sure. You can always create a list of UPCs to be added later using the "Multiple" option of Add DVD
(4) Correct. But you can save them in a CSV file and import them later using a plugin if you want.
