| Posted: | | | | I have the following problem and I would appreciate your help in solving it:
I want to give a profile to a disc whose disc ID is already contained in a multiple disc set I own. When I want to add the disc by inserted disc the system says I already own it. So I cannot add it to my collection in order to make a profile for it. The system thinks I own it because its disc ID is part of the set as "Bonus Materials". Yet the disc doesn't have a profile of its own even though it contains a documentary film in its own right which I want to add to box set contents. There are already five discs in the box set contents but not this one. And again it is a standalone film, not just a maiking of or something which would have to be considered as bonus materials in the sense we normally refer to it.
How do I proceed to get this done? Do I need to make a submission to remove the disc ID from the database? Or is there another way? Thank you in advance for your help! |

| Posted: | | | | If I understand you correctly your situation is this:
MyMovieBoxSet + Movie 1 [ID: I4711] + Movie 2 [ID: I0815] + Bonus Material: [ID: I8472]
Now you have another movie that also happens to have the ID I8472. But this time it's a movie in its own right and does not have a UPC/EAN to be used?
The one thing you cannot do, is to add I8472 a second time. Period. No way around it.
What you could do:
1) Add the movie as manual profile (Add by title -> uncheck "Download from Invelos")
2) Change the bonus material to a manual profile (Select profile, DVD -> Change UPC -> enter "M") Add the movie by now-free DiscID (you should also uncheck "Download from Invelos" or else you get the data of the bonus material).
As for contribution: My gut tells me that actual movie beats bonus material, but I'm not an expert at this.
Are you sure you don't have any DVD decryption programs running (like AnyDVD)? Because they could screw up the disc ID and it seems unlikely (not impossible, just unlikely) that a bonus disc and another movie would share the same disc ID. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | There are two places where disc IDs are used, one is under the Discs tab in the Edit window and the other is when you use the disc ID as the primary key instead of UPC/EAN. It is possible to have both at the same time so you should be able to create a profile using the disc ID as primary key. If not, try to temporarily delete the bonus disc (you can always reload/refresh its profile later) and insert the new disc you want to profile again. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
