| Posted: | | | | Why is the capitalisation showing up as changes, shouldn't they be ignored just like local parsing? | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Indeed. I did point out this was a needless change, but quite how it's making it through is another thing! | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | Apparently this is by design, I asked a question about this in another thread: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=607148.
I'm not really sure what I think about this. On the one hand it is strange that online and local behaviour do not match. On the other hand it is sometimes useful to see where the local differs from the online, including the parsing of names. |

| Posted: | | | | I see a lot of those differences in my updates when I just put color into it. The next day when it is accepted I often have many changes in Cast and Crew with those small and capital letter. | | | * 3D TV Panasonic TX-P65VT30J + Blu-ray Player Panasonic DMP-BDT500 My Filmcollection online: www.filmkino.ch * |

| Posted: | | | | This has been discussed many times. Here is a link to Ken's statement regarding this topic: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=425379&PageNum=4&messageID=1340514#M1340514 Quoting Ken Cole: Quote: All points covered by others above, but to reiterate: The CLT is not case-sensitive. Also, DVD Profiler will not change the case of a cast member when accepting an update. It does all cast member comparisons without case sensitivity as well. It's also not possible to submit a contribution with a "Credited As" entry that varies only in case.
With all that being the case (no pun intended), there should be no reason to change your local case to match, for standard deviations such as "De Nero" or "de Nero".
The case-based ping-ponging can occur, but it amounts to nothing as the changes are not downloaded for those that already have that actor.
By the way, kudos to all on a polite, productive discussion! | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | At least Shauna MacDonald will link with Shauna Macdonald, how much fun would it be if it decided these were different people? It's getting better, just not ideal yet. Bring on the locks to keep my caps intact. |
