| Posted: | | | | Just when i thought it was safe to go back out there ..
I did a fresh install then did the restore of a backup .. the problem is that i didn't look at the Tools->Options->File Folders (not sure why i should have to but .. )
My original install had all the support and data directories in \users\DSig\Documents\DVD Profiler\.. as one would expect.
But this install put it at \Users\DSig\Diskeeper\Documents\DVD Profiler\... for some unknown reason. NOW i have to uninstall and reinstall.
I think this needs to be fixed. Not sure why it would use some other products data paths

DSig just change the data paths within dvd profiler. You don't need to reinstall the program | | | Paul |

It sounds like you may have set your system Documents folder to point to \Users\DSig\Diskeeper\Documents. Check that by right-clicking the Documents folder on your start menu and selecting Properties. | | | Last edited: by Forum Moderator |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for that .. although other programs have not installed to that directory in Diskeeper ( i guess they just know where they want to be) it is pointed to the diskeeper directory. My guess is that Diskeeper changed it for some reason .. poorly behaved of Diskeeper, wasn't it.
Although I would prefer to have dvdProfiler store all its data and engine bits under the program directory that is just my preference and can't expect dvdProfiler to follow that.
Thanks .. will uninstall, reboot, change the document directory and try install again.

That is absolutely against every policy Microsoft has set for programs that run under Windows. The Program File folder is designed to hold unchangable installation files and executables. Since Vista (and continuing in 7) the security boundaies around this folder have increas, thus the security question if you want a program to allow to install there. User data belongs in the folder C:\Users\<your user name> and more personal user data in the My Documents folder which can be pointed elsewhere (my My Documents folder points to D:\Files, so whenever I feel the need to kill Windows, my personal files remain uneffected) | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
