Thought I had lost my database with a nasty hard drive crash some months ago. And, to top that off, the last three backups were corrupted! Anyhow, I'm not here to complain.

To offset the four-point bad luck just referred to, I have to report a minor miracle: I have finally managed to "scrape" the victim database off the old drive and - it's usable!

What I need to know is this: How can I combine the 'saved' database with the newer one I've been so busily reconstructing?

Step 1: Backup your new database
Step 2: Point DVDProfiler to your "old" database
Step 3: Backup your "old" database (just in case)
Step 4: Restore your "new" database with a partial restore. This will simply integrate your new database into the currently opened.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I would imagine this  saved data base is the .DPB  files.. ??  Make sure you you install the 3.7  data base not the new 3.8  program.. Once that is done and you have a virgin data base base just restore the existing data ( none) with the saved data (dpb  from the old 3.7 program)  .........

Once that is done and you are satisfied with it ..  back it up some where but not ne the C drive ( or wherever drive  your profiler is located ...  )  then  install the the 3.8 dta base and it will install your data over .. Once that is complete  Back up again .. and alos upload your data to the servers  for that extra backup .....

report back with your outcome..

Thank you both. Got it done now! Also have installed Dropbox so I not only backup to my other computers, but also to the 'cloud.'   Is this okay for marking the subject closed? Can't find anything about courtesy in the knowledge base, so I'm in the dark on this protocol.
