Hello

I have a discussion in Europe if in a box with childfilms in the box itself videoformats may be contributed. F.e. Widescreen or the resolution 1.78:1. Until now I know we left it empty. Now we have the case that somebody likes to put Color in there. As on all boxes videoformats it is empty my opinion is, also color has nothing to do in the box itself, a film resp. child has color or b/w but not the box. As far as I see rules are not exact about the videoformats in boxes. How do you apply this?

Thanks,

Fritz

As far as I know, you can only put the Video Formats information into the parent if it matches ALL of the child profiles. Movies usually vary in ratio, so it's not uncommon to have to leave it out.

Quoting the rules:
Quote:
Contains multiple programs which differ in their coloring methods (such as box sets or multi-film discs with a Colorized and Black & White version included).

Since the rules explicitly address box sets, I'd say that this data can be contributed.

I agree with Fritz though that this amendment is (at least) inconsistent.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I said we CAN include it as long as all the movies match. Obviously you can't contribute a 2.35:1 aspect ratio AND a 1.78:1 for a Box Set.

(And surely that quote only refers to colour?)

If it's colour that's being discussed, surely 'mixed' for the Box Set would cover this.

It seems the original poster is talking about color as well.

Thanks for the answers. To be more precise:

What has a box? It has a Rating and Country origine, a total Running Time, a Release Date, an SRP, Genres, Media Studios who sell the box but no Studios. Then an Overview and Scans of the Box. This is it.

All film releated things like Studios, Videoformats, Color, Audio Tracks and Subtitles, Disc Info belong to the corresponding Child Profile and have nothing to do in the Box Profile.

Looking at this in my opinion the flag Color has nothing to do in the Box. But some did put it now or will do it and I like to be sure I vote after the rules. So, do we put the flag Color in a Box or not?

Thanks,

Fritz

Depends on the films in the boxset...

Mixed = B&W  and Color within a single film
Color = all films in set is color
Colorized = Film(s) originally B&W... but sense colorized
Multiple = any combination of Color Film(s), B&W Film(s), Colorized Film(s)

Yes...as this form the rules shows...

Plus this was discussed during the rules was created... and it was said specifically that the color formats belong in the box set profiles as well as the child profiles.

Good point. I didn't realise 'multiple' was an option. It would be multiple for B&W and Colour then. But you can't do the same for Video Formats.

You can check more then one video format... you can't provide more then one Aspect Ratio... but you can for the formats.
