| Posted: | | | | I am not using the Beta program yet since I want to be able to contribute data.
When I buy a new DVD and enter it into profiler, there is a dramatic increase in the number of undocumented BYs uploading to my database.
This is extremely annoying because if I add/change something and contribute it I find there are upwards of a dozen or more BYs popping up.
I then have to cancel the contribution, go back to the DVD, remove all the BYs before re-contributing.
I don't know why DVDP is allowing these BYs to be propagated when they are not documented and need to be removed.
Although this problem occurred once in a while in the past it is happening on almost every single profile I want to contribute.
It has gotten to the point that I am ready to stop contributing because this problem is wasting so much of my time.
Does anyone know why this happening? And, more importantly, how can it be corrected? |

| Posted: | | | | One thing I forgot to mention - I have been concentrating on updating my TV series but it has been happening with other DVDs too.
Off the top of my head one series that this happened to is ER. I added the box set contents and a dozen of so BYs came up on those. Seasons 5, 10 and 13 I believe.
Another strange thing is the BY 5001 has come up many times. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | I have this. Sometimes I'll check every DVD with that actor and can't find any with the BY or any mention of it in the notes. Where do these come from? |

| Posted: | | | | Birth years drive me insane. My favorite new feature of the beta (haven't started using it yet though) is the ability to strip the BY before accepting the profile. Sometimes I'd accept a BY as part of a larger change, forget to remove it locally... or actually miss that a BY is being accepted, and then later, go to contribute something else and see a BY is being contributed and have to go through the same run around. Cancel, remove, resubmit, search for proper documentation of said BY to see if it should even be there... The seemingly countless BY's that are getting accepted (properly so that's not an issue) because a porn actor shares the same name are crazy as well. Every single actor is going to end up with a BY.
On the actual topic, I've had this happen to me as well (as far as I know). I'll see a BY being contributed for an actor that I own maybe one or two profiles from, and I'll check the notes and search the forums and come up empty handed on any kind of documentation that it should be there. My best guess? The screeners are basically just letting almost anything through these days. Not trying to place a ton of blame, but I can't think of another explanation, how else are they getting through in the droves they are? | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | If you preview a profile update there is an option in the cast/crew section to strip the birth year if the update adds a new one. It does not show if there isn't any new birth year | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity |
