| Posted: | | | | Small question regarding the original title for "Stargate Universe". A lot of profiles list it as "Stargate Universe: SG-U" or just "Stargate Universe". But the title card like shown in the episodes would lead me to choose "SG•U: Stargate Universe", because the "SG•U" appears first and after this the "Stargate Universe" text appears. And would you tend to use "SG•U" as shown or "SG-U" because it is easier to type? IMHO it should be "SG•U: Stargate Universe" or did I miss some discussion thread where such situations already were cleared? |

| Posted: | | | | Well you can't use SG•U: Stargate Universe as Ken put an automatic filter so that it couldn't be done. Think it was talked about in the Wal-E thread at the time. He also added...
Certain characters will be converted automatically during contribution. e.g. "•" will be converted to "-"
...to the rules. Though under title and not original title. But I imagine it is set in both (no I never tried).
so I ended up voting SG-U: Stargate Universe as it is the closest it seems we could do to match the credit screen. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Okay, thanks. As I use the 3.8 beta I couldn't try contributing it myself. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I voted "Something else", because to me, SG•U is just a logo. So if I had it in my collection, it would definitely be just "Stargate Universe". Locally, of course. I may very well buy it, but I have to finish Stargate SG-1 first, and that'll take some time... | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

Are you sure? I just submitted a profile with the "•" symbol for a different DVD. It shows up locally, the contribution and voting pages. Wouldn't the filter change it in one/any of those places? Whether it goes through or not - I'll update the information. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

Whether it goes through or not - I'll update the information. Invelos recognizes the "•" and does not automatically convert it to "-". The DVD I submitted to verify this was released: UPC 024543509271: Dr Dolitte: 4•Pack | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | I just looked at the profile you mentioned.... and my guess is because you have it in the edition field... not the title field. Yeah... just found Ken's announcement... Quoting Ken Cole:Quote: New filter has been added to replace • and · with - in the title only. In addition, " -" will be replaced with "-" (space before dash removed) Later in the thread he said he removed the filter for " -" to "-". Now if this is also the case for original title... I don't know... would have to try and see if it allows it or not. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | You're right Pete, it is indeed in the edition field - I haven't come across any for the Title field yet.
I wonder why it converts one field but, as Ken's post states, not another - that seems strange to me. |

| Posted: | | | | Wasn't it for ease of looking up titles as people can't easily type the • symbol from their keyboard, but they can type -? That was the impression I received. As you wouldn't be looking up the edition, it wouldn't matter what symbols are in it. Likewise with the overview. | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | I think it was more to do with it not showing correctly in some areas of the program more so then easy use. I know that was mentioned at one point at least. | | | Pete |

What's the original title of Stargate SG-1? Is SG-1 also a logo and not aprt of the title? No, because SG-1 is not an abbreviation of the show's title but of the titular first team. General Hammond announced in the pilot that there were to be nine SG teams (later there were at least 22) and O'Neill's team's designation was SG-1. I'm more surpised that people didn't try to change the title to Stargåte SG-1 because å is most certainly the lower case variant of Å. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
