| Posted: | | | | I recently bought the DVD of "The Prophecy" (R2 UK) and noticed it had a different EAN than that in the database, not only in the final few digits but most of it. As I suspected after seeing this the rights have been bought up (or at least been transferred to) a new DVD distributor (Miramax and Lionsgate instead of Dimension and Buena Vista). No problem thought I, I'll just submit under the new EAN with the new Media companies (and updated release date etc)... but then I met a snag; they've updated the info on the cover but they presumably had some old disc stock so the DVD itself is *exactly* the same as the old one (same disc ID and actually has Dimension and Buena Vista written on the disc label) and when you put it in it comes up with Dimension as the splash screen.
So, do I use the info from the case, which is IMO correct as the EAN shows it has certainly changed distributor OR do I use info from the disc (which is usually the DVDP standard answer) which disagrees with the case and is, I'm pretty sure, just old stock?

| Posted: | | | | I'd say use the info from the case, since that's the distributor that is now actually distributing the release with the new EAN. Besides, the rules tell us the back cover is the place to look for data on Media Companies. |
