Hi folks. I got a question about running times for dvds. I have on order the Japanese Blu-Ray of the 1985 Jackie Chan film "The Protector". It's not in the database yet, but according to specs there are 3 versions of the movie included. A 95. min US release which is the default option, an 87 min version (the version Jackie edited & re-shot some footage) and a 104 min. Japanese cut which is apparently Jackie's version with the usual outtakes included at the end.
Now checking the rules, it says "For branching titles, or those with multiple versions (e.g. Theatrical and Director's Cut) on the same disc, use the longest running time. Exception: If the longer version is available only as part of an Easter Egg, use the shorter running time."
From what I understand of the specs, the alternate versions are easily accessable & not Easter Eggs. Also from what I see posted online, only the 95 min version is really HD quality, Jackie's is not so great quality wise, and the Japanese cut mixes both. I'm leaning towards 95 min. but I wanted your thoughts on the matter. |
