| Posted: | | | | Bill Thompson did some voice acting for Disney including "Lady and the Tramp" (1955) "Alice In Wonderland" (1951) and "Sleeping Beauty" (1959)
His name links to "Bill Thompson" which was a "Paris Island recruit" in "Full Metal Jacket" (1987). Now since he died in 1971 I doubt he would be playing a recruit in 1987 lol.
He is not an approved BY, so how does one get it approved so they can be separated?
Pardon my ignorance, BUt I really ahve not done much with cast and crew except copy from one UPC to another. |

Pardon my ignorance, BUt I really ahve not done much with cast and crew except copy from one UPC to another. Take a look at the BY thread that is pinned in this forum and you will get an idea as to what the process is. Basically, you have to document the BY for the actor(s) involved and submit it. Be very specific in your notes when you contribute, explaining why the BY is needed and you will need a couple of sources to prove the BY. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Be very specific in your notes when you contribute, explaining why the BY is needed and you will need a couple of sources to prove the BY. So I post in the BY thread? If so can I put the contribution in before? Or do I wait until it is approved? How long does the approval take Because I do have lots of sources Bill Thompson 1913-1971 Voices is "Alice In Wonderland" (1951), "Lady and the Tramp" (1955) and "Sleping Beauty" (1959) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0859892/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Thompson_(voice_actor) http://voicechasers.com/database/showactor.php?actorid=1241 http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Bill-Thompson/ Is linking with Bill Thompson "Full Metal Jacket" (1987), "Magnup PI" (1982), "The Imagemaker" (1986) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0859895/ Not many sources on him, seems to have not been a very prolific actor. |

| Posted: | | | | So when I edit the cast member in "Lady and the Tramp" it has a BY of 1913. And so does the one in "Full Metal Jacket". So do I just edit the one in FMJ removing the BY and contribute? |

| Posted: | | | | I think I figured it out
There is no cast entry for the Bill Thompson that is not Bill Thompson(1913) so I guess I just add him and replace it in FMJ |

| Posted: | | | | Well that did not work.
I created a new cast member "Bill Thompson" with no BY, replaced it in FMJ, and when I went to contribute it showed no changes to the online profile to change |

| Posted: | | | | If a profile has Bill Thompson (no birth year) and the only Bill Thompson you have is Bill Thompson (1913) these will automatically link together.
To separate them, both Bill Thompson's must have a birth year in your database.
If you have a birth year for the second Bill Thompson, add it to your newly created Bill Thompson. Then submit the profile you have done this with (such as Full Metal Jacket).
If you do not have a birth year for the second Bill Thompson, give him a fictitious year in your database (I use 10000 to make sure I can immediately tell at a glance that it's not right). Don't submit this, since it's fiction.
Unfortunately there is no protocol for submission of fictitious birth years to separate people whose birth years are not known, so this all has to be done locally.

Hope this helps! Yeah it does, but it does not help the integrity of the online database much IMO. Because it is an unkown BY | | | Last edited: by Scooter1836 |

However, there's nothing we can do about it. I have dozens of fictitious years in my local db, and I think I remember T!M saying he has hundreds. But the rules require a real BY, so only real BYs may be submitted. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

I just tried it and within my own DB it is separated with one having no BY. But it does not recognize the difference to contribute it so it can't be contributed so I guess the online database has the wrong one until and if a correct BY is found. |

Because no matter what the rules provide consistancy across the data at the very least, so unless they change we need to abide by them. |

It doesl work for a little while. However, to keep them separated they both need a BY. Otherwise they'll get co-mingled later. I've had that happen. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
