| Posted: | | | | Hello,
I'm noob, and try to use this tool which seems very powerfull! I've registered locally all my DVDs and try now to "fix" the data (When UPC was not found for instance, I take similar releases based on title, and made some modification)
There is a DVD I own, which I think is not correct in remote database. It is dual sided dvd with one film on each side, and it is not currently recorded as a boxset. I want to publish the modification, but before I would like to see the prior Contribution Notes (perhaps there are good reasons why it is like that ), as required in Contribution rules. But I've not found in help how to manage it. Do you know how I can see prior Contribution notes?
Thank You! |

| Posted: | | | | Two ways:
In the program) Select the profile and then in the Overview window at the bottom you see a disc with two people in front of it. There you can see the contributors and then the contributions notes
When you're contributing) Above the window where you enter what you contribute there's a link that says "View all contribution comments for this profile". | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Review the Rules, we do not log dual sided discs of the SAME film as a boxset, nor any other dual-side for that matter Six years ago when the Rules were developed this was not a major issue, it has over the years bwcome a bigger issue. I do not see treating a double-sided release of the same film as a boxsethe only differemce beimg Full Frame or Widescreen, this could be handled via Disc ID notes or some other such way, as opposed to setting up two complete children with the only difference being Aspect Ratios. As to multiple films on a single disc the appropriate method, it seems to me would be this, For multiple films on one side, using dividers would seem the best way to separate the films, similar to TV, once you cross over onto another side now we have a new ball game. Perhaps using children (Boxset) would surely be one method, though I am not sure it would be the best, I am thinking just handle it as you would above, with one data set being created for each side of the disc and the appropriate data being displayed depending upon which side of the disc you wanted to see. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | Correct me if I'm wrong but he said "It is dual sided dvd with one film on each side". He never said it's the SAME film. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Thank you for the answers, it works(even if the comment is blank) For DualSided DVD, I'm watching a lot of topics about it, and trying to find a solution. Because there are different films I took the rule The term "Box Set" ... Sets containing 2 films, one on each side of Dual-Sided DVD. . This one is clear
But I've got concerns about the rules of children, I'm trying to figure out how to handle them. If I fail, I will create another topic because this one is solved, and the questions I will have on the new one will be tricky.... | | | Last edited: by boons |

| Posted: | | | | For a double sided single disc box set. (Double Feature) You will have a total of 3 profiles. 1 profile - Side 1 disc id with movie info, cast and crew. profiled by disc id. 1 profile - Side 2 disc id with movie info, cast and crew. profiled by disc id. treat them as single discs, so when you add disc info to profiles, it goes as side A on the disc. id.
1 profile - DVD case, add the 2 previous disc id's to box set contents, no cast or crew. |

| Posted: | | | | For 2.4 legacy version, I can have both installed at the same time, on same machine?
I don't know if I must talk about dual sided dvd here or create an new topic. Finally, because I've started here, I will continue, except if a moderator tells it's not OK.
So, my problem is: - There is an existing profile with same UPC as mine, but filled as a single movie (all cast of both movies at the same place for instance, as for the description of movie) - One of the two films has an existing good profile in database, but with an UPC and no Disc ID - The other film has an existing good profile in database, but with an UPC and same Disc ID as on one side of my dual sided DVD
I would like to "import" this two existing profiles, modify them and link them (as new profiles) to the existing 'master' profile that I convert into BoxSet. Following the rules : Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets. Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not But, I'm not able to remove UPC from existing single profile, and even if I suceed, I don't want the modification to be done on existing profiles, but create new ones.
So is it the good way to proceed, and if yes, How can I proceed without overwritting existing profiles(and if possible not filling manually the two profiles from scratch....)?

The two version were on my computer untill recently and it didn't create any problem. But I can't say if it is the same if you install it after DVDP 3.X (mine was before)... |

Should be no problem, but if it is only for the contribution notes that might not be necessary. See this posting on how to create the link manually. Quote: - There is an existing profile with same UPC as mine, but filled as a single movie (all cast of both movies at the same place for instance, as for the description of movie) Change it as needed, and document your changes on the contribution and all should go well. As an example see "The Fly - Double Feature" UPC 024543004547 That's how such a profile should look like, according to the Contribution Rules for Box Sets "Sets containing 2 films, one on each side of Dual-Sided DVD." Quote: I would like to "import" this two existing profiles, modify them and link them (as new profiles) to the existing 'master' profile that I convert into BoxSet. Absolutely possible, see Cloning ProfilesQuote: But, I'm not able to remove UPC from existing single profile Yes you are, if you have a DVD-drive in your computer, see above mentioned article. In DVD -> Change UPC you also have the alternative to use the Disc-ID of an inserted DVD. And don't worry about deleting anything, the second you change either UPC (or Disc-ID[1]) and/or Locality it simply is a new profile. cya, Mithi [1] Just to clarify: I don't mean the Disc-IDs you can enter in the "Discs"-Part of a Profile but the Disc-ID used in lieu of the UPC, which then makes up the unique primary key for the profile. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

| Posted: | | | | Thank you very much. The two profiles for the two sides of the dvd have been submitted and accepted. The box set profile is received.(I don't know why it takes more time to validate, but it should work) |
