| Posted: | | | | Ok I recently added a cnage to Contagion to add the DISC ID based profile for the DVD and hence changing just the boz set contents.
Now I have not done much with cast and crew except to copy and paster form one profile to another. In the case of the Contagion BD release I have never touched them and accepted all updates from all profile changes and the cast is not locked on my end.
When I went to make the submission it of course showed that I could check to update the box set contents, but also cast came up as difference. And it flagged the difference of "Laurence Fishburn (1961)" as opposed to hat is in the online profile of "Laurence Fishburn", also stating a warning that it was not an approved BY.
Now of course when I did my contribution I did not check the cast since I made no changes there. I only submitted the box set contents.
I looked locally and sure enough my local copy had "Laurence Fishburn (1961)".
My question is how can this happen?
I never made that local change I have accepted al updates and no locks exist on my local profile (except SRP) so why would my local copy be different than the online database? |

| Posted: | | | | Most likely explanation is that you downloaded a profile (The Matrix, CSI, whatever) that contained LF (1961) and your local database got updated.
The actor DB is not movie-specific but global and thus your Contagion cast got changed.
If you want to remove that BY again, simply open Contagion for edit -> select LF -> Find cast member -> Edit cast member.
But beware. With the next profile update, it might reappear again. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | This can happen two ways:
1) You imported the BY with an external photodatabase (e.g. Headshots) 2) You imported the BY from another profile that didn't get the unneeded BY removed yet.
In both cases this happens because DVDProfiler automatically appends the BY to an already present entry without BY. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

In both cases this happens because DVDProfiler automatically appends the BY to an already present entry without BY. It must be #2 since the actors are not movie specific as DJ stated. I have not gotten around to importing headshots yet. So I guess from what you are saying is a different profile update changed "Laurence Fishburn" to " "Laurence Fishburn (1961)" and was never caught as a "Invelos non approved BY" That makes sense. |

That makes sense. Yes, when the feature became available a lot of BYs were entered before the Rule change which said "only enter them when you need to" and because of the way the BY information is spread (as you have discovered!) a lot of these are still out there and very hard to get rid of! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
