| Posted: | | | | Have the box sets for X-files & SG-1. I have had to fully lock them as somebody has submitted a partial series, and different artwork. Example In X-files series 1,2,3,4 instead of the complete series box I have DVDp wants to replace them with Disc 1's and completely different art work. In SG1 Disc 1,2,3,5 it wants to replace them with (1) Disc 1, (2) Volume 2, (3) Volume 8, (5) Volume 20, and again different artwork. I have just spent many hours rebuilding the damage as the update I did was corrupt, and I've had to rebuild the "Notes" section. to get rid of a partial series. Also with no news on a Android version I'm thinking of looking elswhere. Box set rules need to be revisited, as its becoming a joke | | | www.daves-world.co.uk |

| Posted: | | | | Could you better explain what's happening? Also, I assume be series you mean what we Yanks call a season, not the entire run of a show. Is that correct? |

| Posted: | | | | I don't know, I do not have those sets.
I am new here though, but what I have been told about images is since disc's can be shared across releases the only safe thing to do is of the disc is an accepted profile do not change it and submit it, if you want to change it do it locally and lock the images.
Based on the advice that I have been given it does not make sense that changes should have been submitted. |

This is not uncommon for TV series where they release season sets and complete series sets after the season sets have been released. They usually don't create new discs for the complete series sets. Or sometimes they will just update the DVD packaging with new cover art.
Just lock down the cover art you have and it won't be over written. | | | Are you local? This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways. | | | Last edited: by Tracer |

| Posted: | | | | Honestly, the whole problem is as simple as once you add a profile to your database, lock the whole thing down. That way this stuff never happens. The online database is in a state of constant flux. That's it's purpose. People who just blindly grab updates assuming that all is good will be constantly disappointed. If you lock your profiles and do an update, you get the option to selectively choose what bits of info get in. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

One should never, ever, update without previewing first. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I don't lock down every single profile at present, only areas I change locally.
But I do scrutinize every change. |

| Posted: | | | | The best is to avoid to use the online database. It is quickier to build a good profile from scratch (with linking names and overviews that are not advertising, without exotic titles, spelling mistakes or group dividers), than to correct what is online. Changes, specially those made since two years, generally damage the quality of old profiles (they were correct before 2007), breaking linking when using common name threads, and adding uninteresting crew roles, group dividers and spelling mistakes that are a pain to delete.
And if you want to make a change, make it, it is quickier than scrutinizing hundreds of changes that are mainly damaging. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

And if you want to make a change, make it, it is quickier than scrutinizing hundreds of changes that are mainly damaging. My collection may be smaller than yours (950 discs) and I only get 2-10 updated a day. I have yet to get a destructive one. So it is easy to manage scrutinizing them. |

So it is easy to manage scrutinizing them. Pay no attention to this user. He has nothing but disdain for invelos and the database. Every chance he gets, in whatever thread he can, he steps on his soapbox and disparages invelos and the database. He claims superior knowledge and insight into everything DVD Profiler related. His "claims" regarding spelling errors and such nonsense stem from invelos's contribution rules regarding on-screen credits and overviews where we are told to copy the overview exactly as written and the credits exactly "as credited" on-screen. If an overview has a word that is actually spelled incorrectly he feels he has the "right" to correct it and contribute it to the online database. Sorry, the rules state clearly "exactly" as written or as credited, warts and all. He expects everyone in the world to know his language, French, and to properly apply accents and special characters to credited actors names, even though the on-screen credits show no accents or special characters. He wants the database to be changed to reflect his concept of what DVD Profiler should be…namely about movies or films…not about profiling DVDs or Blu-rays. So…whenever you see a post from this user, take my advice and “move along…nothing to see here”. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Bad Father: Quote: ... You have your opinion about the online database, and I'm happy for you that you consider it perfect for your use. It is not for me, (though I find the program itself really wonderful) since I regret that the present names contribution rules do not allow correct linking, and title rules do not allow correct searching. I also think that cosmetic features as reproducing spelling mistakes or adding group dividers should be kept for local use. You consider that I have no right to give my opinion here and you always try to censor me. If this makes you happier, no problem, but I'll still say what I think... | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |
