I've recently contributed a new Dutch R2 DVD profile for Assassination Games, only to see it shot down.
"The UPC/EAN of the contributed cover scan does not match the profile's UPC/EAN."

I've used the disc ID to create the profile, since entering the EAN (8712609656473) does not yield any results. Is there anywhere on a DVD profile I have to enter the EAN as well?
I've looked all over, but I can't see any field that requires the EAN.
It's driving me insane because that message doesn't make any sense to me otherwise.

The error message is usually reserved for cases where you enter an EAN 1-234567-89012-3 with a cover scan that has EAN 3-210987-65432-1.

As for your case: When you tried to enter by DiscID did that yield any result? I ask because it sounds like it because you said the EAN didn't.

Honestly I do not know why the contribution was denied. A DiscID contribution for a cover scan with an EAN is totally legit IMHO.

But what you can do: Select the profile, go to DVD->Change UPC and then change the profile from the DiscID to the actual EAN and make sure that the DVD in your hands has the same EAN as the cover scan shows.

Then you can re-contribute it.

Thanks Doena.
The EAN didn't exist yet. Identifying the DVD using the disc didn't work either.
The profile simpy did not exist yet. I contributed an entirely new profile.
I changed the EAN, as it was still set to the Disc ID.
If that's the only thing that was not correct, it should work now. I've re-contributed it.
Thank you for the help.

Sounds like your first contribution was rightfully declined. You should never create a disc ID profile if the release has an EAN that is not already in use. Using the EAN from the cover should always be the first option when contributing a new profile.

I've seen this several times lately when profiles gets accepted with no EAN in the profile, but with the EAN perfectly visual on the cover images provided. Great news that somebody actually declines these

If this would've been legit than think about all the duplicate profiles there'd been. One with disc-ID and one with both. When I add a DVD using EAN, it will not find the profile lacking the EAN so I'll create a new profile.
