Hello,

Recently I came across that a few contributions that should not have been approved, were approved.
I am just wondering if those were just mistakes (which is human and can happen) or are nowadays all contributions approved and nothing gets declined anymore ?

Would be cool if someone can shed some light on this and tell me that fasle contributions still get declined.

thx in advancce

Nope, I had 6 out of 100+ image contributions (obviously images are the most subjective part of a contribution though) declined this month so they do decline.

Also had a BY declined because one of the links was to a third party database (despite their being 5 links).

That's why I don't contribute BYs. I actually never found out how Invelos wants them to be documented.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I recently contributed 4 profiles of a season set, data and images. One voter didn't like my images (I can live with that). Subsequently all four images were declined, but also two of the data profiles. I recontributed the latter and one week later they were aproved without a problem.

I think the reason you don't see it as often as one would think is because of Invelos' standing policy of approving profiles even with errors if they are adding a majority of correct information. So even if some things are wrong it can still get approved.

I think the contribution approval is done mostly automatically. Weighing in the votes and searching the contribution notes for patterns. Recently I got a contribution declined, where I tried to fix a title stating that mine comes from the cover and the opening credits, whereas the existing seemed to come from IMDb. It got declined stating that IMDb is not a valid source. Lesson: Do not mention IMDb in the notes at all, even if stating that you didn't take your info from there.

I never had that problem... and I have mentioned IMDB in many of my notes... whether stating I am replacing IMDB scrapped data or using them as one of several sources for birth years, role names and such. And I never had any of mine declined. Matter of fact... can't remember the last decline I have had for any reason.

On Oct. 13, 2011 a contribution from me that should not have been declined (TRON ->Tron), was declined. Contributing against Ken Cole is not particularly promising.

I've had one image contribution declined a few months ago. Had the wrong UPC (moved a title from ordered list and didn't remember to check the UPC), wouldn't have noticed myself.

I just had this happen to me today. So much for my no declines streak! Stupid! (not the rules or screeners... me for forgetting to look!)

This has been my experience as well.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I've had this problem too. I've had two or three contributions declined with the "third party database not allowed" message. Each time I stated that I was doing exactly the opposite and correcting previouysly-accepted third party database information.

I've had a couple of BY contributions declined with the same message too. That's why I gave up contributing BYs. Sometimes IMDB is the ONLY source.

I just had one turned down. There were not any votes cast. It is a new release that I had contributed a couple of weeks ago (Just cover scans and the basic release info. I went through and did a full edit and sent a new contribution after the 1st was approved. These are my contribution notes.

From DVD case Corrected title to match DVD case and opening film title. Added studios from opening credits. Added features from disc. added subtitles. Made changes to Overview to match back cover. disc info/id. From opening and closing credits added cast and crew with titles and charactor names to match on-screen.

I got no reason why it was declined. Just a declined.

The movie in ? is The Shunning actually per opening credits Beverly Lewis' The Shunning. I thought the Beverly Lewis' was just informative on the cover and not part of the title. But since it was my orig. contribution figured it was my responsibility to fix. But from another forum looks like alot were declined this past week.
