| Posted: | | | | I have used dvd profiler for many years, on 3 computers (XP to Vista sp2), over 5000 entries with total success: I love this program! However, I just got a new hp dv7 running Win 7. Most of program transferred over from my Vista computer using easy transfer. I downloaded dvdprofiler to get latest version. When I try to open it, it almost immediately fails with error: "DBISAM Engine Error # 11010 Table 'C:\Users\pudwhistle\Documents\DVDProfiler\Databases\Default\ACTORASSGN.DAT' does not exist." Searching for the file shows it only with .IBK and .DBK extensions. I have used the repair facility both from the program failure message & from the start menu at least 5 times with no change. Troubleshooting yielded an analysis of my system; I noticed that it showed that the OS was Vista sp2 and NOT Win7. Could that be indicating a problem or incompatability? I uninstalled dvdprofiler as much as I could (no manual deletions) and then reinstalled latest version. Nothing helped. HELP! I don't know what to do except save my last computer (with no cd/dvd drive, but that's OK) for my "movie computer"--but I'd much rather used my new, faster computer |

| Posted: | | | | There isn't a compatibility issue that I am aware of as I am running on Win7. For some reason, and I don't know what that reason is, the 'ACTORASSGN.DAT' file isn't being created on your system. Hopefully, someone will have some suggestions as to why that is happening. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Don't Know tech stuff. But what about that EDM program that was locking up from the other tech forum. Might be already on the computer before the vista to win 7 transfer, being a new computer. |

| Posted: | | | | Did you already transfer the database to the new computer or is this still the untampered install version of the "Default" database?
You can restore a new, empty database by going to
C:\Program Files (x86)\DVD Profiler\DatabaseTemplates or C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler\DatabaseTemplates
and copy the database files (which should include an ACTORASSGN.DAT) into the Default directory (warning: overwrites whatever data is in there!).
Now check if DVDP is starting.
Then go to the old PC. Create a backup file via DVDP->File->Backup database and restore that on the new PC. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | that line in your post about easy transfer .. I don't know about that .. The Best way to install a program is to install it fresh not to transfer over to another harddrive.. The backup library yes.. But not the program .. I say Make sure you have on flash stick or a harddrive your .dpb then do a fresh install of Profiler .. then do a re-install / restore backup of that .dpb and there will be no problem at all ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I remember having an error like this when i installed windows 7. Can't recall the exact nature of it, but it had something to do with the privileges of the folders dvd profile was in. It was marked as read only. when i unchecked that it worked fine.
But yeah, best thing is really like widescreenforever said and to install DVD profile from scratch and copy the backup library into the folder you want and then restore from there. |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks to all of you for the suggestions. I'm still stymied but will keep trying. In fact, my "old" computer is quite capable--it might be cool to have a dvd profiler computer anyhow (*rationalization*). Trying to reinstall dvdp now I'm getting "unable to load layout". It seems to be a kind of permissions issue and I've gone nearly mad trying to work around this. Win 7 security may be great but it seems to add a lot of roadblocks, too. |
