Possibly a bug, or maybe I am just not using it correctly... |

| Posted: | | | | When adding BR or DVDs which are not in the database, I find the best match and use that existing disc as my template. Since I buy many DVDs Previously Viewed from Blockbuster, I very often find that the UPC is not in the database as the disc was sold to Blockbuster "For Rental only". I find the closest match, download that one, and then scan in my cover, check the cast/crew, overview, languages/subs, and the features. The last step is to change the UPC before uploading my contribution.
When selecting this feature, there is a checkbox on the bottom of the dialog box for "Use Disc ID from Inserted Disc". I thought this would helpfully also update the Disc ID since I always remove and SET that before contributing to be sure it is correct. However, if you select that option, it drops the disc ID in the UPC field. I don't think that was the intended functionality of this feature, because it is not a valid UPC. Was that feature intended to update the Disc ID field instead?
Thanks, R. |

| Posted: | | | | everything is good that you did up to - "Use Disc ID from Inserted Disc". ..
instead keep the new UPC but go into edit profile /add a disc ( or change disc id ) and use that instead . .This way you will keep your UPC and have your Own disc ID for the new disc in your library . By "Use Disc ID from Inserted Disc". you are over writing the UPC and using the inserted disc which would be useful for child discs in a box set ..
I do this all time when I add a movie / keep the original disc UPC and then change the disc ID i n the edit profile section ( disc A disc B / set / clear ) section ..
you want to keep the UPC so you can be notified of any cast /crew a or other additional info you may or may not want to be notified on . . ( don't forget to use the Lock setup as well to manually set your title to what you want to have automatically changed if any weekly /daily changes affect your said title come down the pipe.) | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | That actually is the intended function. It's for discs that don't have a UPC. What you want to do is go into the add dialogue and click the "by disc ID" tab. |

The feature you are looking for, as widescreen mentions, is in the edit profile portion of the program. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Ok, got it, thanks. Yes, that is the way I have been adding Disc ID for years, via the Edit Profile. Just recently I noticed this option in the Change UPC dialog box, and thought I could do 2 operations at once (update Disc ID, change UPC). I see now that feature is only intended for non-UPC DVDs.
Thanks, R. |
