| Posted: | | | | what about actors with the same name (including middle) that were born in the same year Will we get a place of birth ......... What on another spin, what about year of death..... As I add birth years, I have been seeing a lot of death years and was thinking it would also be nice to track... | | | Premium member since 29 August 2002 ----

While possible the odds are pretty long on what you describe. Are you hypothesizing or have you found something.

Don't think that this would be a good idea. It will create a lot of unnecessary variants of the same person, because people get the "exact" birth date wrong. Compared to that, the very few occasions where two actors have the same name and birth year are neglectable. | | | Matthias |

| Posted: | | | | Got a question from a contributor why I voted "No" to his contribution. He changed the name of John Williams into John Williams Composer:
"Changed the entry for John Williams. There is another actor with that name. So that we don't mix them up i have made a new entry for John Williams with (Composer) behinde his name."
He asked me to reconsider and turn my "No" into a "Yes". Don't want to do that. Asked him to add a year of birth. I couldn't find anything about this in the Contribution Rules, so I think this would be a good addition to the rules? | | | Life's like a movie, write your own ending. |

There's already a new bit in the rules about adding the birth year to cast and crew when names are the same. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Ah, ok. Just found this, and only this: "It is generally not necessary to add birth year for actors as you add them to DVD Profiler. Use the birth year to differentiate between two actors with the same name." Was very easy to miss though. | | | Life's like a movie, write your own ending. |

| Posted: | | | | Adding (Composer) (or whatever else comes to mind, how about: cockeyed, dark haired, 6'2'' (I like that one!) ) is not an option, as it violated the "as credited" rule.
That's a definite "No" vote | | | Lutz |

| Posted: | | | | I voted No to one like this as well, the user provided No Documentation to back up which of the many names he was referring to.
