Does anyone know how I might import a list of titles (over 500) of films I own. I already have my DVDs in Profiler, but would like to add my electronic library, which do not have bar codes, only titles? I have the list in a single column text file.

I'm not sure if Bulk Edit can help here.

DVDProfiler is (as the name already says) for profiling DVDs (or other comparable Media-Types).
It's completely lost if you don't have an identifier like UPC/EAN or at least DiscID.
Since electronic libraries usually have neither, the only remaining way to get those into the database is to create manual profiles. "Manual" in this case is really meaning "manually".

The easiest way I can think of is to create a tag called "whatever you want" flag the titles and check the tag, then you can sort on the tag whenever you want. This way you are still only maintaining 1 profile and not several. You can include or exclude which ever tag you want in your sort. You can create a report for viewing or printing from your sort. When your finished, just click clear all filters.

Tags have helped me sort things any way I want, like: movies, Blu-ray 3D, multiple versions, Sequels, etc., etc. in any combination I want.

Omg that menu is not supposed to be there. As I said in the announcement, CSV Import is not yet complete. I had intended to supress that menu item.

Please do not try to use it at this time. Sorry about that.

CSV import information can be found in the BulkEdit thread in the Plugins Forum. I believe that there is also a User Guide - check the installation folder. (Edit: My mistake - no User Guide (yet)).

I'll make you a deal. PM me the CSV file and I can use it as test data. Include an email address where I can send you the result - an XML file that you can import easily. Maybe that will hold you for awhile until I finish the project. I am putting in a lot of new stuff.

Ok, I would encourage you to try the new BulkEdit V2.27 and report any issues.

To import a list of titles, create a file like this:

Title
This is title 1
This is title 2
This is title 3
etc ...

The heading "Title" is recognized in all format options. If you spell it otherwise, it will not be recognized and you will have to use the Custom format and map the column manually.

You can optionally enclose the data in quotes, which is recommended to avoid parsing errors if the titles have special characters.

Apparently there has been a misunderstanding. DVD Profiler requires a UPC as a database key. I thought you knew that. The mapping between Title and profile is not one-to-one. Think about how many hits you would get on Google for "Star Wars".

I have experimental code for doing what you want, but it is not ready for release. The beginnings of that code are in LoadDVD Pro, where a title match search gives you a Netflix page or you can stream the movie.

To get an idea of the issues involved, try entering a DVD into the database by title, and you will see what I mean. To do that automatically requires additional information, or assumptions in order to select a specific release, so you would have to interact with the program for each movie, or just accept whatever match it makes.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Oh, and one more point. If I wanted a feature that allowed you to select from a set of near matches, I would need access to the online database, and I would likely have to pay a huge fee for that. There are other UPC databaseses available, but they also want to charge me a large fee. Only thing left is to do an internet search, which is the code I am experimenting with.
