| Posted: | | | | Am I right in thinking that if a DVD of Movie #1 is released in 2005, and then a different movie altogether, Movie #2, is released on DVD with the same EAN/UPC in the same locality in 2007, then Movie #2 cannot be added by its EAN as it will overwrite Movie #1, but must instead be added by disc ID? |

| Posted: | | | | You are correct. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

Spot on. Additionally the responsible person at the distributing company should the flayed and tarred and feathered. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

You are not, by any chance, looking at the StudioCanal Nordic releases of Le Mépris and L'année dernière à Marienbad? I'm sure there have been other cases, but this particular duplicate was at some point fixed by the distributor by adding a label on the shrinkwrap with the correct EAN for Marienbad (5-050582-731484). They didn't update the slip cover, though. Sorry if I'm completely off track, just happened to come across this one myself. |

| Posted: | | | | I have this problem now. I have one of the ESPN 30 for 30 Series' movies "Once Brothers" (Vlade Divac/Drazen Petrovic film) with the UPC 825452506821. Well, this is already in the database as another of the ESPN films' series "Four Days in October" (Boston Red Sox docu.). Now, I can add this by discID, but since it's a MOD title, the discID of "Once" will change with each successive issuance of that title. So how can I track it, to make sure someone doesn't add invalid cast/crew, etc.?
Update: I checked dvdempire.com (as they usually have back cover scans that contain the UPC's). The 2 titles do indeed have the same UPC. I agree with Mithi, someone needs to be fired! | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! | | | Last edited: by huskersports |

I have absolutely nothing to add except I love these 30 for 30 documentaries. I love Netflix even more for streaming them. I've dug each one I've seen to date. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | I have one where there is very little I can do about it. I went into the store recently and found a box of budget releases... they come in a cardboard envelopes... the box is a selection of several different 2 to 4 films on a single sided DVD releases for $2.99 per disc.
The problem is that the upc is the same for every release in that box. Of which I pick out 2 and bring them home. And what happens... they are Echo Bridge releases... meaning that these discs are already used as child profiles for various box sets. Which means they are already in the database under their disc IDs as well for the child profiles.
Which means there is no way to get these actual releases into the main database correctly. As much as this kind of thing has been happening lately... I think it is time for Ken to come up with an additional Primary Key so that all official releases can be added to the main database correctly. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Hi Pete
You can now correct it by opening profiles with UPC #1, UPC #2 and so on. When you search later films with only the EAN all will show up and you can choose which one you like to add to your local database. I just had this case and it works perfect now in DVD Profiler 3.9.1.
