| Posted: | | | | Okay I am changing location of over 240 of my titles from ''one room'' to another totally differant area and would like to reflect this in the area of location and slot. I have manaually over the years typed in basement for these titles.. Well I am moving them to a new location and need to know how I can do this one swift edit rather than flagging and manually editing each slot with new Location .. Really appreciate if someone here o nthe boards who is technically astute and can guide me in doing this in a few seconds rather than all day typing .. Thanks | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

EDIT: The easiest way would probably be to rename the new location. ... Or just don't move them.... either ... I don't see location in the notes from Bulk edit: The following fields are imported: - ProfileID - Collection type (e.g Owned, Wishlist ...) - Title - Sort Title - Original Title - Collection Number - BoxSet Contents - Purchase Price - Purchase Currency - Purchase Date - Purchase Place (see notes below) - Notes - Review - Discs (including Location and Slot) - Events - Tags - Locks | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. - Discs (including Location and Slot)
I highlighted the interesting part for you Make a backup of your collection and install BulkEdit: As you can't filter on location: right-click on the title-column in the collection-list, choose "view columns" and there "Disc Location". Now click on that column-header to sort by "Disc Location". Afterwards all your "Basements" should be one below the other. Now flag the first and the last profiler and go: Collection -> Flags - > Flag between (a new command brought to you by BulkEdit) The whole thing of course only works if all "Basements" should be changed, otherwise you have to filter them somehow beforehand or do the flagging manually which might get a bit boring on 240 profiles. If you did the latter it might be prudent to save the flag-set, Collection - > Flags -> Save setNow open Bulkedit, Tools -> BulkEdit and choose "Disc Information", "Location" and "Title" and what else seem of value to see and Load -> Flagged Profiles. Click on the first Location field, click Multi-Copy and in "Tool 2" type "Basement" in the one field and "$whaterveryournewlocationisnamed" in the other, "find and replace all" and afterwards finished. Now just Files -> Save calidated changes and BE will really write the changes to your database. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Mithi got bulk edit loaded and for two days now (experimenting) It won't change any location titles .. I even decided after a few dozen attempts to just load one title only in.. I flag it.. then load(flagged entries) it, then multicopy which takes me to the next page that has 4 areas of Tools : Prepend to target /Append to target / Overwrite to target.. I've tried all three but I'd imagine that overwrite is the one I need. then the drop down box start row /end row for my selected flags is selected. From box is next-, it is empty unless I choose location to location.. (?). Tool 2 - look for / replace with is selected... Tool 3 and Tool 4 both the same as Tool 1 in looks.. then there is first found in cell and all found in cell along with exact match .,, and the finally the master button FINISHED .. which when clicked instantly finishes ,(?) . then I go to validate saves ., and all looks /changes have not happened. I've tried this tool on both windows XP and Windows 7 both results I won't say disappointing.., I'll just say It didn't work for me.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. I followed Jim's instructions above and it worked flawlessly for me. First I "Personalized" 10 titles by adding "Basement" to the Location field. I flagged those 10 titles. I started BulkEdit. I checked off "Disc Information", "Location" and "Title". I "Load"ed Flagged Profiles. I selected "Basement" in the first Location field. I then Clicked on Multi-Copy and in Tool 2 I typed "Basement" in Look For and "Bedroom" in Replace With and clicked on Find and Replace All then clicked on Finish. After File>Save Validated Changes all 10 Profile's Location changed from "Basement" to "Bedroom". BTW, I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection | | | Last edited: by Bad Father |

The first radio button "1st found in Cell" was selected. If the target cell is "read only", sounds like you may have a "permissions" issue? | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

I decided (with my limited PC skills ) to close everyhting down and restart the computer (windows 7 laptop)., and reapplied all the instructions and voila it worked..! .. Thanks again Max for the patience and installing all the images for us.... now to walk across the room and do the same for the XP PC .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
