Subject pretty much says it all. Function should be similar as on Blu-rays. If someone likes he/she can do child profile for the DVD.

Agreed
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I know that Disney does DVD/Blu-Ray combos that come in a DVD case.

So what about those combo's?

We also need a rule that in case of combos Blu-ray is parent and DVD child. Case type doesn't have anything to do with this. I have several Blu-rays that came in DVD keep case.

Now we are forced to enter incorrect data (PAL/NTSC) and some people who doesn't know better also check anamorphic.

I thought there was a Ken ruling in which the higher def version took priority in combos?

No the case type doesn't matter, what makes it different is that it is marketed as a DVD with a bonus Blu-Ray.

Where exactly does it say that the Blu-ray is a bonus? It's just a combo release which contains both medias. 2+1=3, 1+2=3.

So wouldn't the DVD be the parent and the Blu-Ray be the child?

Unfortunately we don't have a rule for that, and that rule and a needed program change is the thing that I'm asking so we can stop being forced to enter incorrect data to db.

So wouldn't it be wrong to profile the Blu-Ray as the parent in the first one since the DVD is listed first?

Can you find that from the rules?

See the post Dr. linked in a previous post.

Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked.

That's from the rules.

Notice the part that says "main media type".

So in the case of Bambi where the DVD is listed first (thus the main media type) the dvd is the parent and the blu-ray is the child. Thus if this was an anamorphic title the anamorphic box would be checked for the parent. Since we can't choose which profile is the parent in a combo set then the choices for both formats should be available for combos.

You must also note that it doesn't say a word about child and parent profiles. It says "to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example)" which we cannot do at the moment in case of Blu-ray as a main media type.

Normal Blu-ray profile doesn't contain anamorphic and PAL/NTSC options and that's why I'm asking a program and a rule change. IFF combo rule would be changed so that the Blu-ray would always be the main media we could profile BOTH Blu-ray and DVD correctly.

Perhaps the solution is to add the ability to choose which media type is the parent for a combo pack instead of the current method of choosing both for the parent or prime profile.

Also since there are two different combo types. Blu-Ray/DVD combo and DVD/Blu-Ray combo I would like to see the addition of one being listed first and the secondary media type being second. Or perhaps some sort of coloring system being added to a combo pack that would highlight which media type is the primary one or parent.

I'm just throwing out some suggestions and I hope I am describing the, well enough.
