| Posted: | | | | I know there's a way to do this. I would like my collection list to show only those DVDs that I have not viewed.
I appreciate any help.

| Posted: | | | | You can do this with filters. Just click on "Filters", go to the "Personal" tab and check the radio button "Not" in the "Watched Status" section. That is, of course, assuming that you have been marking your DVDs as watched as you go! | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | Unfortunately, I never used the feature Hal spoke of. Many years ago I set a tag that says "Never Watched" and upon entry into the DB I check the tag for those I have never seen. When I finally get around to watching one of them, I go to the personal tab and uncheck that tag. Bottom line, I can search on that tag anytime. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | If you find that unfortunate, you can repair that:
- select all profiles with the tag "Never Watched" - flag all selected profiles - invert flags - set Last Watched for all flagged profiles
You will need to select a common, fictional data. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for info Hans, I have almost done this a couple of times, but the fictional date sticks in my throat, figuratively speaking, so I think, at least for now, I'm going to let it be.
Jon, I thought of another scenario for you. I don't know how large your collection is, but you could make 1 trip through your entire collection and flag either the ones you have watched or the ones you have not, whichever is the smaller number, then follow Hans' suggestion to put a fictional date on those you have watched, thus creating a list you can sort. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | I just wish there was a 3rd option to choose instead of just watched or not watched. Something to show that it don't pertain to the profile. Some sort of N/A... This way I could use it to mark parent profiles of boxsets.
I considered using the date that I completed the entire boxset... but in my eyes that just don't seem right As I see the parent profile as no more then the packaging... and it just don't apply. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | For box sets I use the purchase date as watch date. Since it is just the box, and I've seen the box when I purchased it, that's it as far as I am concerned.
"Watch DVD" becomes "Watch Box". | | | Hans |

I do the same. The box set is watched after I've watched everything that came in it (the main features; I'm not talking about bonus features). The only difference is I really don't care that giving it a date is somehow "wrong". But if an N/A option were ever added, I'd probably update all those dates. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | For profiles that can't be watched, I use a watched date from a time before I even bought my first DVD, in my case 1/1/2000. This way they are considered watched and yet on an impossible date. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Most of what is in this forum is too deep for me. I wanted to print a list of the movies I had watched, I didn't care when. I added a name of watched to the loaned list. When I watch a movie, I mark it as loaned to watched. It is never returned unless I unmark it. Then I found a 3 column report with dvd number and name and added the loaned to field after the name. I can sort the list anyway I want which is usually alpha or by dvd number and print it. It shows the word watched next to each DVD I have marked as loaned to watched. I love it! Finally I can tell which movies I have watched. |

For the life of me I don't understand why you would use the loan function in this way when DVD Profiler already has a function to track watched DVDs . When you want a report for "unwatched" all you would have to do is filter your collection in the personal tab and select the "not" radio button in the "watched status" section. This will display only titles you haven't watched yet. When running a report, just select "as filtered" and that will print all of your unwatched DVDs. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |
