| Posted: | | | | I just recently acquired the Alien quadrilogy on blu-ray. While Aliens was found using the UPC search, Alien, Alien3, and Alien Resurrection were not, though they are listed under the title search. Is it possible to add the UPC codes to these profiles so that other people don't use just the UPC codes and then go through all the work of adding a ton of information that's already extant? |

| Posted: | | | | If your Aliens was the following: Alien Anthology, BD, UPC 024543702160 The DVD in this set did not have individual UPCs, so has been contributed by DVD ids.. if UPC is your UPC. when you selected it from the online db by entering the UPC you should have had the option to down load the six DVD child profiles in the set.
If this is not your UPC it does not stop you from down loading them and using what info you can gleam from them. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Downloading child profiles won't solve the problem, as far as I can see, of not being able to locate an entry by UPC because there is still no entry for that UPC. I could enter in all the information for each UPC, but then it would be redundant to entries already in the system that don't contain the UPCs that I have as part of the product when I purchased them. I'm sure there are other people who are looking up these same UPCs and not finding an entry because the profiles available when searching by name are not connected to any UPC. I know I can download by title search, but I'd like to try and add the UPC and make the contribution so others won't have to go through looking the blu-rays up by title. |

Well to be 100% accurate: no, you can't add a UPC to a profile, because the profiles are defined by the UPCs[1]. Now if your question were: "Can I change those fitting profiles from Disc-ID to UPC, thus creating a new profile?" the answer would be "Absolutely! And it is indeed a good idea to do so." See "Cloning Profiles" for a little checklist of things to watch out for and then Happy Contributing! cya, Mithi [1] And some other things, but I want to keep at brief. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |
