| Posted: | | | | Hi,
Originally I bought DVD Profiler a few years ago and since that time(mainly for dad) we moved to collectorz for the iPhone capabilities. Recently discovering that DVD Profiler was now available on the iPhone I tried to move back.
I'm at the point where I've used bulk edit to import an xml from collectorz and that seems to have all gone well and good. However when refreshing the collection from invelos it only brings back data for half the collection. Looking at the other half that was no data returned I'm unable to even get anything for the profiles individually and i get "Unable to download file, continue anyway?"- All I could think to put this down to was an incorrect UPC which is the case for some of them (ie DISCID being at the start of them) but the majority have the correct UPC and as far as I can tell the correct information for it to bring back images(I've even confirmed this by searching for the title manually and confirming it was the correct UPC and it was definitely in the invelos database).
Sorry if this sort of thing has been answered, I have tried searching and on that note I have tried 'repairing the database' and replacing the OnlineList.dod manually/deleting it and letting it download again.
Thanks for any help! |

If you like: select 2 good and 2 bad profiles (flagging with Space-bar) do a XML-export for those 4 profiles: File -> Export Profile Database -> Flagged Profiles and a Backup: File -> Backup Database -> Custom Backup and check only 'Include Profiles' and 'Back up flagged entries only' at the bottom. Send it to the email provided when you click at the top of my posting. And to be on the safe side, please tell me the UPCs of the 2 bad apples. As you already tried the all-purpose database repair the data itself seems to be the problem. cya, Mithi PS totally forgot about Locality: from which are those empty profiles? I'm not sure how BulkEdit handles them, maybe you just have to go to DVD -> Change Locality and switch to the proper country? | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

I'm not sure how BulkEdit handles them, maybe you just have to go to DVD -> Change Locality and switch to the proper country? Yup, that's it. The UPC is correct, but the locaility is wrong, or less frequently, DVDP database has that movie catalogued using DiscID instead of UPC. BulkEdit has varying success in guessing locaility. It can be 50 - 100%, usually around 80%. Someday, I will add a user option: "use this locaility if you are not sure." Some solutions: - what Mithi said, but that's one by one - Use BulkEdit to change a bunch I try to explain the importance of Locality in the BulkEdit thread, but most new people gloss over it. Roughly, "Locality" is the country for which the DVD is packaged for sale, and for which the designated rating is valid. DVD Profiler uses as a "key", the UPC/EAN or the DiscID concatenated with a numeric form of the Locality. If the Locality is United States ("0"), the numeric Locality is not displayed. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | First of thankyou for all your help thus far!
I've experimented with changing the region code on the individual profile and in the option menu but still no luck. I'm still getting 'Unable to download file, continue anyway?' just before this I get a prompt about if I refresh the profile for Invelos I'll lose any changes I've made(the region change) so I'm not sure if thats actually changing the region back to what it was and then trying to refresh or not but if it is doing that I'm not sure how I can get around that(maybe editing the xml before the import).
Half the collection IS there and working fine.. unfortunately my dads collection is at about 1000 so it may be a case of deleting the dvd's that arent working and re adding them- which works 100%. |

| Posted: | | | | Just sent you a PM with my email address. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at it. Maybe I will learn something that will improve BulkEdit. In any case, glad that you at least got a head start. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

One way to check this: take one of the defective profile, preferably a well known title, write down the UPC and delete the profile. Now click DVD -> Add to Collection choose 'by UPC', enter the UPC and see if something comes up. Quote: ... so it may be a case of deleting the dvd's that arent working and re adding them- which works 100%. Wait a sec, if you add them by UPC it works? Then it really is just a Locality-problem. From which locality are those titles? Meaning: where does the DVDs come from? (Not: "Where does movie come from"!) cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Sorry I haven't replied for a few weeks, I've very busy with work and my dad hasn't been so passionate about sorting his collection out. I did get a chance the other day to try changing the individual dvd's locality and also the programs but no luck- I'll try to have a bit more of a play around with it soon and let you know how I go. |
