I have been using DVDprofiler to manage my collection since 2002. Now that I have a media player that can display cover art and such (like YAMJ, XBMC), I would like to export my cover art and display it using my media player.

I have put much effort into keeping DVDprofiler accurate and would like to use this information as my basis for my descriptions and cover art (instead of searching IMDB and others). Has anyone seen or created a DVDProfiler Export to place a well defined .NFO file and/or image creation tools (like: Thumbgen and TViXie2PlayOnHD).

I use a Patriot Box Office (aka: ACRYAN, WDLIVE, Medebo, and others) as my media player, and it supports the folder/file format:

        * Movie1 Title.iso
        * Movie1 Title.nfo
        * 0001.jpg
        * Movie1 Title_cover.jpg
        * Movie1 Title.jpg
        * folder.jpg
  * Movie2 Title

        * 0001.jpg
        * Movie2 Title_cover.jpg
        * Movie2 Title.jpg
        * folder.jpg

It helps to have the .NFO file in the folder so if needed, it can be updated, or the folders can be rescanned and images updated with new information based upon the .NFO file.

If you know of a pluggin or application that can provide this functionality, please post.

My plugin DVDProfileLoop plus a simple script (.wsf or .bat) could create this format in minutes.

If you do a Forum search for "XBMC" , you will get hits in half dozen or so threads on this topic. Seems to always end with a request for more details that never get answered.

Same problem I am running into. Alot of questions, dead links and no answers. As powerful as DVDP is, and as much time we have invested in keeping our libraries upto date and accurate, it would seem this would be the best approach at populating our "Media Jukebox" with valid data.

All of the Media players have similar traits. Display the contents of a JPG based upon a given filename: folder.jpg, Movie_name_Cover.jpg, 0001.jpg TVIX.jpg, about.jpg, Movie_name_fanart.jpg, etc.

What these jpgs are named depends upon the media player in use, and how the jpgs are generated depends upon what pre-processor tools are used: (TViXiE, TViXie2PlayOnHD, Thumbgen, YANFOE, Movie Flow, Media Companion, XBMC, DVDP2XBMC). Sometimes, a post-processor is required to create a link between the jukebox application and the jpg images. This will build the xml code to provide the actual names /locations of the movie files (.mkv, .iso, .vob...).

All of the tools need to get the movie details from someplace. They can parse out the folder/filename and use a best-guess effort to search a given list of Internet database providers. They sometimes GUESS correctly, sometimes they don't, so the user must correct the potential results prior to moving on and getting correct movie information (babysit the process). he They all expect to obtain movie specifics from someplace, such as IMDB, Amazon, TMDb... If we already have the DVDProfiler information on each movie we own, we shouldn't need to guess at the title of the movie, which version, year and such needing jpg images to complete the jukebox.

The link between our DVD's (the image files, .iso, .mkv) and the jukebox is the .NFO file. If we can generate a well populated .NFO file with our DVDProfiler content, then many of the pre-post processors can use this file to generate the required jpg images.

Now that most of these media players can be purchased for less than $80 (without disk drive), it would seem that the demand for this tool would be beneficial.

Next steps:
(1) Once we have confidence that we know what we are doing, make scripts for other boxes
(2) Write a plugin
  - user selects the fields he wants
  - user selects the type of box, or specifies a custom format
  - user specifies directory structure
  - flag profiles
  - write the whole smash to secified target folder

This could be a collaboration if different people want to research and perfect scripts for various boxes. Then we need ideas for how the plugin screens and menus would look. And then at least one of us would need to actually write the plugin.
