Th purchase price is what I actually paid in my own currency, including shipping costs & customs.
So when I buy in a german store, both fields are identical. When I buy abroad, I have two different values. | | | Karsten

If you want to keep track of how much you have actually spent, then it makes sense to include shipping, customs and what have you. Personally I don't enter anything. As currency I allways use euro, because at the end of the day this is what I pay. Additionally I enter in the notes-section the item-price and the item-shipping in local currency.
