| Posted: | | | | I just bought the app on IPhone. I have DVD Profiler already on the PC. I followed the instructions completely. My PC is connected directly to the broadband modem. The firewall allows Profiler access. I put in the computer name or the IP address and it is "Unable to Connect'.
I've read through several of the threads and cannot get anything to work. I don't know what else to do to get this thing connected and do not want to reenter my library. If anyone can help me, please. I do not have a high tech background but can follow the instructions given, just doesn't seem to work for me.
Please point me to the right direction to fix this! | | | "...they mostly come at night...mostly" |

| Posted: | | | | You say your computer is connects directly to your broadband modem, so I take it you have what is called a "public IP address" meaning it does not start with 192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx or 172.16.xxx.xxx (where xxx can be any number from 1to 253), correct? If this is the case is do you have wireless access that your iPhone is connecting up to (not the 3G service)? Unless I am missing something, you would not be able to sync over a WAN (the Internet) and both devices would have to be on the same network. | | | Last edited: by t001z |

Please point me to the right direction to fix this! the first thing to check is that you have switched on sharing within dvd profiler and that this is minimised on the PC (so running) - when you try and connect from the iphone. Check for any software firewall which may be blocking access. Check you are running the latest version of dvd profiler. It sounds like you don't have a wireless router and just have a modem - is that correct? If so, does the modem allow connections from the internet? | | | Paul |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have the computer set up on the wireless router. I'll set that up tonight and then try again with both on the same network and see if that does the trick. Hopefully so! Thanks for the suggestions. | | | "...they mostly come at night...mostly" |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I got home, set up the Wireless Router and connected both the iPhone and computer to it and it worked like a charm! So easy and pulled in everything with no problem. I knew something was wrong with the wireless connection but I guess I connected to another network without realizing it.
Glad this was resolved! | | | "...they mostly come at night...mostly" |

When I click on "Continue", I see under the screen "Conntecting..." and after 30 sec. à 1 minute, it tells:"Unable to connect. I have wireless connection on my PC and on my iPod both with the same SSID. What is the problem? Can somebody helps me? |

| Posted: | | | | Hi. I just installed the DVD Profiler software on my PC and purchased the app for my iPhone. I have been trying for 2 days to get my iPhone to connect with no success. Both the iPhone and computer are set-up on my wireless router, and I have checked the config settings on both the router and Norton (and even shut off the firewall on Norton to try) and still can't connect... Help??
Please disregard, found out my iPhone was connected to the main router, not the hub the PC was connected to. They are now on the same router and all is well. | | | Last edited: by mspommery74 |

| Posted: | | | | Vista : Click "Start" on your PC. Search: command Then "Enter". In Command Prompt you write: ipconfig /all Then "Enter". Read I Pv4 Address. It says something like : 192.168.0.10 (This address may change from time to time). DVD Profiler on PC : Click on "Tools", "Options", "Sharing" Tick "Share my collection on the Network", Share on port 32847, View access and your pw. If you will allow changes from iPhone use a pw. Tick "My network". Click OK. iPhone : Click on DVD Profiler app. Databases. Update Local Collection. Edit. Host : 192.168.0.10 or what you found at ipconfig. Port 32847 and fill in correct pw. Continue. To exit "command" write exit Then "Enter". |

| Posted: | | | | Skantze, thanks for the info; helped solve my problem. BTW, something was weird with my password and when I removed it, it worked like a charm. So if someone else is stuck, that might help. |

I'm not sure if this is correct - I looked through the requirements for the Iphone app and it doesn't mention this anywhere. I would have thought that as long as the correct IP address was entered (which would change each time the computer connected to the internet) that this should work. You would also need to ensure that any firewall on the Pc allows the Iphone app to connect. | | | Paul |
