| Posted: | | | | Hello all,
As usual, I did a search but was not able to locate a solution...
I have been contributing for sometimes now and I finally got a bar-code scanner... (meh, it was cheap so..).
Thing is a UPC has 12digits but some of the packaging as extra digit (usually 2). Is there a specific name for that extra 2 digits so I can try to lock the scanner to get only the first portion?
Example, for those who has that BR: UPC: 0 24543 71849 9 50
In the example above, teh first 12 characters represent the BR movie, Machete... when I scan it.. I will get the last two useless digits; 50.
Would someone else encountered this difficulties before.. and if so, were you able to solve it?
Warm regards,

There has been a long on going ( some time ago ) about if the UPC is 14 vs 12 and that is how it scans that is how it should be in the system.
I would make the assumption that a new movie using only the 12 means that the old rule stand in that you only submit the 12 number UPC.

The "50" is set apart from the UPC so I would simply try to start scanning in that space and swipe left. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |
