I have a contribution up, where I took the studio data from the credits, and it is getting 'no' votes because they don't believe that the studio listed in the credits is a studio...when did this change?

The profile in question is for the Best Buy edition of The Pacific.  The opening credits read:

HBO Miniseries Presents  A Playtone and DreamWorks Production

Last I checked, that was a studio credit...or am I missing something here?

If it's in the credits, I enter it. I do believe you're entirely in the right here.

Are you putting HBO Miniseries as the studio, or just HBO?

Because I'm unclear if HBO Miniseries is a studio.

I am putting HBO Miniseries as the studio because that is what is in the credits.  Beyond that, I know that HBO has, at least, two different production arms...HBO Films and HBO Miniseries.  The former produces original films, that air on HBO, the latter produces miniseries.

This press release, HBO Miniseries Presents the Pacific, an Epic Ten-Part Event, indicates that HBO Miniseries is the name of the company.

This press release, HBO Films and HBO Miniseries Line Up Star-Studded Casts and Filmmakers for 2011, talks about both of HBO's production companies.

Looks like one to me

Just add a capture of the studio credits to your contribution or send it by PM to the "no voter".

We post at the same time, but your post sure close the case

Thanks for the replies.  The 'no' voters changed their votes to 'yes'.

Seems silly for HBO to have a sub studio called HBO Miniseries, but it is what it is.
I gave up long ago even caring about studios, with all the variants for most all of them I'd never be able to track by studio anyway. Even the big ones have variants, like Paramount Home Entertainment vs paramount Home Video. Lions Gate is far worse with about 7 variants....

It's probably just a way to give some HBO executive a high-falutin-sounding title (e.g., VP in charge of Miniseries).  But maybe there really are two different units: one for stand-alone films and another one for miniseries.  Won't they need a third unit for regular Series (True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos)?
