| Posted: | | | | Hello, Yesterday I got a negative reaction on a contribution that said that Imdb is not valid for adding cast and crew. Can anyone tell me what's even better than Imdb? |

In addition, there are copyright issues, since imdb does not allow data copying. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | Besides that, IMDb isn't always accurate. I use them for local profiles though. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | Yup... per Rules the cast and crew must come from the actual credits IMDB is far from accurate to the actual credits of the movie... especially when it comes to the role names. We look for accuracy to the actual film. | | | Pete |

We look for accuracy to the actual film. In fact, IMDb is accurate for spelling of names in 99% of cases, which is not the case for names generated artificially by Invelos' rules (specially accented names that often loose their accents). Though we are not allowed to use directly IMDb data for Invelos purposes, it is by far the best database to use for our local profiles, for those of us that are more interested by movie history than by watching credits. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

With a little work you can get the cast list to link perfectly with the current rules. | | | Pete |

Then I'm strange as well Call me crazy too then. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

But it is not true. When you have GERARD DEPARDIEU in the actual film, you remove the accent that is included in the E of GERARD, inventing a Gerard that doesn't exist per the actual film. | | | Images from movies |

I go strictly by what I actually see... if I do not see accents then I don't use accents. it is as simple as that. I know this is a pet peeve of yours... and I do feel for your situation... but I can't get myself to care about this "problem"... I just care about what I see on screen and what I am told to do with what I see by the rules and Ken's clarifications. It really is of no more then that for me. Where you openly say you don't care about the contributors and what they have to go through... I really don't care what the "real" name is... I couldn't care less if a name is mis-spelled... it is just the way it is. And this is my last words on this subject because I am also tired of it... and getting annoyed by it being non-stop from you. | | | Pete |
