| Posted: | | | | So I recently audited this dvd, UPC 025192355127. I remobved the OMB credit for Hunter S. Thompson as these were his credits in the film. In fact, here's a snip of my notes: Hunter S. Thompson has 2 credits on this film, neither of which we track. First is "A movie based on the twisted legend of", then "executive consultant", no OMB although it clearly is based on Hunter and his writings. It seemed to me to be right, but a voter recently said 'no, the first credit is valid and trackable as OMB' (not quoted but it gets the idwa across easier). I can see both side of this, so when I don't know what to do, I ask. What does everyone else think? Does A movie based on the twisted legend of get an OMB? I thought OMB was more of the original story. Here's my argument for each side:
Negative - Legend is not a story. If this is true then any movie about anyone, that anyone would have to get OMB. Elvis from John Carpenter for example. Elvis was 2 years in hiding, or dead, depending on your outlook. The movie is about his life, can't recall if it says so in the credits or not, but since it's about him, he's OMB. Hell, Bigfoot will get OMB for all Sasquacth films!
Positive - Without Hunter this film or idea would've never happened, so the legend truely is the story. Loosly based on writings is still based on. Not to mention if he's not in the credits, he needs to at least be in the genres. | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

| Posted: | | | | For this to be a valid credit, per the rules, it must end in 'by', not 'of'..."Based on [anything] By." As written, it is not a valid Profiler credit. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I wouldn't enter it for the online as it does seem to go against the way the rules are written (and that makes perfect sense to me as well), so I'd do what you did and remove it.
I would probably however, keep it local. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |
