| Posted: | | | | I have DVD profiler running on Windows XP (current patch level) - DVD profiler says "Shared on 'electra' (192.168.201.125), port 32847: 0 connected:" I have not set any access passwords. The Windows firewall has a checked exception for the DVDprofiler port.
My Ipod touch is connected on 192.168.201.119, my subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. Both connections use the default port but the iPod does not connect to the PC. Both systems have internet access - I'm guessing that the firewall is stopping internal access between the two systems so it looks like I have some debugging to do before anything will work.
Frankly I'm amazed that you're expecting me to enter the PC server IP address on my iPod every single time I want to sync the collections! 20 years ago that would have been acceptable but these days there are much better methods for network discovery. I'm also surprised that there seems to be no way to connect the two systems via the same cable that I use to sync itunes?
Since I have network access on both systems - I'd expected that I would be able to just go to my online collection and simply download the online collection to the iPod ... but apparently not.
I guess that getting this to work will have to wait until I have time to debug the network and firewall. | | | Everything in the world is a second order system, if you're not too fussy. And if it isn't, you are. |

I've granted access to dvdpro.exe, not on port basis, and set the scope to two specific IP addresses. I doubt this will fix your problems, but maybe you might want to give it a try nonetheless? Also, try port 80 to check if maybe another security program or your router is blocking the connection. Can both devices ping each other successfully? What much better methods do you have in mind? Also, I don't have to type in the IP each time I update my collection. Only when I create a new database and choose "Connect to DVD Profiler for PC". If that's really the case for you, than it's clearly a bug. Quote: I'm also surprised that there seems to be no way to connect the two systems via the same cable that I use to sync itunes? You don't have to be surprised, I'd expect nothing else from Apple. It's not a restriction by Invelos. The communication between iTunes and iOS isn't open for third-party software. Direct communication between apps and software on another computer is only possible via wireless network. Syncing with the online collection will be available in a future version. | | | 1.0.1, iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1.0

I Think it might well be his case cause he does not seem to get the connection working. Once he's able to connect it probably will be stored as with others that have connected and do not have to enter the server IP address everytime they need to sync... | | | Last edited: by Izo |

Of course, yes, didn't think of that. My advice: use copy & paste. | | | 1.0.1, iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1.0
