I'm getting ready for the Ios4 release of dvd profiler so I've set up the dvd profiler sharing. And it's read only on the 2nd PC.

Yes, I have enabled editing on the main PC (which is doing the sharing).

I seem to remember that it was view only at the beginning - has this never been changed? And if not, then how is this supposed to work with the new ipod version (which is supposed to allow editing)?

Yeah I'd like it to be totally read/write, rather than read and personalise and add watched events. You can't even view all events.

I currently have a windows home server, which is my only always on pc. So would be great to run dvdprofiler on that and use my laptop to view/add/edit etc.

But as the whs box is headless, keyboard/mouse less, the only way is to use a remote desktop session. Which isn't exactly the best way.

Just store it on the WHS and point to the files in DVDP local PC using the UNC's.

unfortunately that doesn't resolve the issue of sharing the database (which is the method required for the DVD profiler for Iphone).

I'll have to wait until that version is released in the next few days - it may be that this restriction on editing only exists for the PC version

I do that already. But I'd prefer to run dvdprofiler on the whs as that is always on and being always on will be very useful with the iphone version coming along. My laptop isn't on all the time.

And editing using remote desktop is way too slow.

Slow? Because? I use LogMeIn for remote access, and that might not be lightning fast, but slow, no way.
But then again I do not know the details of your home network.....

I was wondering the same thing. I do 90% of my daily work through RDP and cannot see any difference between local and RDP desktop.

slow because you have to start the rdp session, just to add a dvd. Which seeing you've got dvdprofiler open on your local pc, its therefore quicker to add it from there.

Kind of ironic, I can add a new dvd from my iphone, but not from my pc, if I'm using a shared database.
