| Posted: | | | | So, I just ordered up this set (thanks to a 50% off code on Facebook) and have added it to my collection. I notice that there is no cast and crew info for the complete set. Since the 48-discs that contain the episodes are the exact same as the discs in the individual season sets (I've checked some of the disc ID's and they match), would it be okay to copy the cast/crew info from those sets to this box set? Also, can I/should I include the individual disc profiles in the box set section of this compete series set?
Thanks!

Ideally the parent profile (097361-311746) could be treated like a film boxset and be pretty empty of most info. Attached as children would be the 7 season profiles (if each season is packaged separately and has a upc) with the disc profiles (optionally) attached to the relevant season. If the seasons don't have a upc then you have 2 options - you can use the 1st disc ID as a season profile - though I doubt you'll be allowed to submit those to the online, and it creates problems if you also want to add disc-level profiles. The better option may be to add the 48 discs directly to the parent profile, then locally if you wish you can create manual profiles to represent each season. Whichever option you choose if you wanted to you could also copy all the cast & crew info to the parent profile - that is allowed per the rules, as long as it also stays on the child profiles. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | I haven't received it yet, but from the pictures I've seen, it's a box with three booklets of trays that hold the discs. No separation of seasons, which makes it sound like I should add the 49 individual disc profiles (48 with episodes + 1 bonus disc) to the box set contents option. I had a feeling that's how it should be done, but wanted other input as it's been a while since I've contributed (re-reading the rules now). Picture of the packaging: Justin |

| Posted: | | | | I have seen this set, and it's lovely - but be warned, those green trays come apart quite easily. Had this set in my shop and all those green trays had separated from each other. Lots of little individual green trays.
And you're right, it would be proper to add the disc profiles individually as the children for the big box. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

Yes. For the UK-Set it was just the other way around: the parent had all the cast and crew but not all children, so I c&p-ed them from parent to children. Quote: Also, can I/should I include the individual disc profiles in the box set section of this compete series set? Yes, but you can not contribute the the child-profiles with the new covers! As always it it first comes, first serve, so the child-profiles in the online-db will continue to belong to the single season sets. If you look at my online-list you'll see that the children of the "Star Trek: The Next Generation: 20th Anniversary Collection" are a motley of different packages, whereas the profiles in my own phpDVDProfiler-List are showing consistent artwork. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

I've read about the issue of the trays coming apart, and while I don't like the idea (especially with how much these cost, even at half off [$190+shipping]), it's easier to get this than to try and hunt down the individual season sets (though I do like their packaging), it's likely to be less expensive than getting all 7 seasons, and it has that extra bonus disc. I have no plans to contribute the individual child profiles unless I were to find a mistake in the cast/crew info. The different cover art won't bother me for the child profiles, at least I don't think it will. Justin |
