| Posted: | | | | Currently I work on my profile and I have a couple of question concerning the art area of the crew list.
1. Does "special effect" is the same than "visual effect"? Some profiles seem to say so 2. Does Make-up assistant count as a make-up artist? 3. Does the hairdresser count as make-up artist?
Thanks |

Yes Special Effects (or SFX) Supervisor or in case there's no Special Effects Supervisor in the credits a Special Effects Coordinator is allowed as well. The following Rule applies here: - Visual Effects: Individual Credits: Visual/Digital/Special/Special Visual Effects, including Designer, Supervisor, and Director, Special Photographic Effects. In other words: Visual Effects, Digital Effects, Special Effects and Special Visual Effects are all valid Visual Effects credits. Another important rule for the Special Effects: - A Special Effects Coordinator can be added & credited when No Special Effects Supervisor is credited anywhere in the credits Quote: 2. Does Make-up assistant count as a make-up artist? No. Quote: 3. Does the hairdresser count as make-up artist? No, it's no make-up artist. http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/contributions/Rules.aspx?display=credits | | | Cor | | | Last edited: by Corne |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks! I checked the rules before and that's why I was confused at least for the make-up part (because Hair Designer, Makeup Artist & Hair and Hairstylist were listed).
Why Ken didn't make a distinction between visual effects (it's more a computer thing I think) and special effects. That look a lot more clear and more related to the job to me. |

Well if someone is credited as "Hair & Make-Up" then it's fine to add him/her as Make-up Artist, but solely a Hair(stylist) credit isn't allowed. I don't know either, but that's why you can locally customize the role | | | Cor | | | Last edited: by Corne |

| Posted: | | | | I sometimes will keep additional or unit members on local profiles. Just use the "other" feature for whatever role you are give them, then you can still contribute legit changes without sending the personal info along, or having to remove it, then send, then put it back in.
I love this for things like seeing say FX pimp Hoiward Berger working under Stan Winston on Pumpkinhead. His role isn't trackable under rules, but I like seeing the early beginnings. I know there's a hundred other examples I'm missing. |

It's great that the program allows to track whomever we want to track like that. What's less great, however, is how that's not enough for some users, who instead insist that the people they're interested in need to be shoehorned in one of the contributable crew sections no matter how they're actually credited. |
