It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not entirely convinced of this yet. Firsty, I'm not buying the accented common name(s). As it stands, the CLT already has more titles for "Pedro Armendariz" - no accent - than "Pedro Armendáriz", and most of the remaining accented ones are incorrect IMDb-mined data. So as far as I can tell "Pedro Armendáriz (1912)" is certainly wrong. If anything, it seems like it should be "Pedro Armendariz (1912)".
But even of that I'm not completely convinced. You're claiming that Jr.'s common name is the variant without the suffix. How do we know this? Again, the CLT shows an awful lot of "Jr." credits. I'm sure there are mistakes among them, but is there any indication that his common name really doesn't include the suffix? Because if his common name does include the suffix, we don't need (nor can we use) birth years here.
Maybe it's an idea to do common name-finding threads for both of them? Once we've established their common names, with or without accents and with or without suffixes, only then will we know for sure if we need birth years, and if we do, to which name variant they should be attached. |
